I know there is a wire on the ECU that you can cut to get rid of thespeed limiter but i need to know the easiest way to get to the ECU. thank you for your help.

Open the passenger side door, there is a footwell to the right of the passenger's feet which has the ECU behind it. There are a couple screws to take off and I believe 2 plastic screws which require the door to be open when removing. As soon as the plastic panel is off, you will see the ECU. 2 screws hold the ECU in place, and there is one screw holding the ECU's wiring. Make sure to unplug the battery before cutting or unplugging and wires.

Is this what you needed? It takes seriously 3 minutes to get at the ECU.

I thought the wire used to limit the speed also doubles as the sender for the odometer, speedometer and the tach. I have seen a diy text that says you need to find the white wire under the plastic center console running down the transmission tunnel and wire in a switch. So you can turn it off only when you get up to speed. Has anybody else heard something about this? I just wouldn't go cutting wires running to the ecu without consulting someone who has done it before.

I still have speed/tach sensor hooked up. Bypassed the neutral saftey switch(auto to manual swap must). I also don't have a transmission wiring harness. I have no speed sensor. I have had the needle almost touching the bottom of the gauge cluster. The bad side is I don't have reverse lights. Nick

here's one simple way to go about taking the speed limiter off.. this is what is was done to the car A 90 240sx 5speed... yes it was a 5 speed only thing you need is a ECU from AN AUTOmatic car that's the same Year and same options(ABS, PS,PB,PW or so) and just plug it in and have some fun.. sence the ECU can read the 5th speed sensor it wont limit your speed.. top speed ever achive was like 137 at red line_____

Also since my car was an auto and i did the auto to manual conversion, does my car have a different rear end gear. I noticed my gears are unusally long compared to my friends car and several other peoples 240's. Nick
