Speed limiter or Rev limiter

I was driving down the road one day and i was a 10mph past 110 and is shut off. Then I unhooked my speedo and got goin fast and then it would only let me go 4900rpm in 5th is it a rev litmiter or was that as much as it could handle

I used to have this told to me all the time "SEARCH"!! I thought it was irratating till I tried it. It really works. There is a thread about this right now in the 240 general section. Hope you find it.

Unplug the 5th gear position switch...the ECU limits the revs to 5000rpm in 5th, or relies on the speed sensor to limit it to ~116 if it's connected.

You tach is probably off a little, hence the "4900", and speedo gets more and more inaccurate as you go faster...
