I have been trying to get rid of my Q that is in need of a little bit of service but still is getting around town just fine. It's a 90 and could use a little tlc. My problem is that there is not many people in the market around my area to buy a 17 year old car with 180000. My little brother is about hit his 16 birthday and if im only going to get 800 dollars or so for the car i figure i mine as well keep it in the family. My father who bought the Q when it was 5 years old is a retired machanic and loves working on the Q said he would help my little bro fix her up a bit and get her running nice and smooth agian. The only problem i have with this is i remember when i was 16 and bought the Q from my father. Im not sure what my dad was thinking when he sold me the car but 16 year olds and Q45's can be a very dangerous thing. now that im older i realize i was an idiot when i was younger as just about every guy is. What im wondering is does anyone think there is a simple way to govern the Q as far as top speed goes. If anyone has any ideas plz let me know. Thanks- Matt

In six months, your brother will be splattered across five lanes of interstate. Better find him a Corolla.

well from the prospective of someone who is 17 and got his Q at the age of 16, it is a highly dangerous thing, i just got over the "haveing too much fun" stage with my Q now that im puttin alot of money into it to restore it, its a good idea to do so tho

I'm rather lucky to be alive since I bought my Ninja 750 bike when I was 17 and had my 450+hp '89 camaro running well shortly after I turned 18. I did some crazy stuff with those two rigs. I remember pegging the speedo well past 145 in the camaro (prob around 160) and then pegging the tach at 7000rpm. Then I would let off the gas, hear the engine wind down a bit and THEN the tach needle would come off the peg. Shortly after the speedo would come off the peg at 160. The bike topped out at 160 but was still quite a rush. Ahhh, memories. Just gotta keep plugging away at my turboed 514" '69 mach1 project (mild turbo build of around 800-900hp).

Not sure if the software can be set for 3rd and 4th gear only as it might be unsafe to limit the passing gear........92 mph [6900 rpm redline] might be necessary in a pass in 2nd. facing an oncoming semi by mistake.

100 mph would be a better top speed still lethal but less than 155 mph.

In ATL loop traffic cruises at 80-85mph, slower and you are apt to get rearended or shot at for driving too slow............ " for conditions".

Our version of the Governator, has proposed a crack down and super fines for speeders in excess of 85 mph or 15 over the highest Interstate speedlimit.

Many are asking, can we still go 84.99 in a 55 mph zone?

Atlanta ... West I-20 at 6 PM ... the posted signs must be a private joke ... approaching the city out of the north on I-85 at 4 pm ... unbearably tempting ...

Yeah, I do like driving in that city.

That drive Jeff has into B'ham every day must be a tempting one, too.

Anyway, it'd be easy to just lower the speed limiter in the ECU, no? 110mph would be reasonable, and you'd still have all the power you wanted, to have fun at "safe" speeds.
