I've been trying to find a speed limiter cut, but it seems like no one has them anymore. I can't find the Greddy SCD, or the HKS SLD Type II anywhere. I know the Apexi Rev/Speed meter will work, but I really don't want that big *** thing hanging out in my ****pit begging to be stolen, and I don't want to get rid of my glovebox space. Both the Greddy and HKS units seem to be pretty small in physical size but get the job done, and don't have tons of pretty lights to attract theives and idiot passengers.

I know they are car specific but I can't seem to find them for ANY cars.

Does anyone have an idea or where to find one? I know that even with the cut wire trick, you still have a 5th gear rev limit.

I've also heard that getting an automatic ECU will bypass the speed cut, but not the rev cut, and my friends S14 with S14SR is running this setup and doesn't have a speed limiter on it. He tested it against another friend who has a bike and said that he got it to 136 but in 5th gear around 6000 he hit a cut. Personally I wouldn't be going that fast unless I was on a track, but I'd like to know what the very top end of my car would be if I could get it on a track with no limiters.

retuned ecu, soon or later, you have to get them anyways if you want to move out of the 200HP leaque. Or go for a cheaper set up, apexi. I've heard ways, you can too if you use the search button...but none worked so far...at least worth doing.

Yes, a retune is a good thing, but its also $600, and I don't have all the mods I want done yet to really need one. I'm waiting for an upgraded Turbo, injectors, and MAFS before I worry about a tuned ECU.

well, why are you worrying about the limiter if you don't have your car upgraded? I mean, think about it.

Because upgraded or not, the car is still capable of more than 115, hell, my honda will beat that.

If you just want to go over the speed limiter of 112 then just cut the Vehicle Speed Sensor wire which is the yellow wire w/green stripe coming out of the ECU. You may have the rev limiter in 5th but at that point you will be well past 112.

You guys don't have to cut any wires. Just disconnect the plug between the transmission and the ECU. It will get rid of the speed cut.

I'd still like to know how fast I'm going however.

Phax, if you do that, your ecu will run on safe mode, which means you can't redline in 4th and 5th gear...

So that's why the engine cut out in 4th? Bah, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the info though, that is really good to know. I bet in safe mode, it's running even richer than normal too, right?

My SR does not seem to have the governor but I've got the 5th gear limitor that hits in 5th gear at 6000rpm at about 136mph, as seen here:

http://www.racingonthestreet.com/cars/videos/

It's 0-135mph.AVI save-as because I don't stream.

I'd really like to get rid of that 5th gear limitor but I don't really want to spend money on doing it. If it were 115 I could understand, but 136 is pretty fast. I only want it gone so I can make a quick 150mph run just to say I did it.

I hear you can just remove some 5th gear sensor or something.. who knows..

Why is that? :slap Ill be making about 430+ HP to the wheels witn a COMPLETELY un-tuned ECU.....a Stand-alone FMC or piggy-back will do the same and MORE than a re-tuned ECU :slap

It works on the KA. The way I understand it, is that transmission harness for an SR and KA are the same. Just pull the 5th gear plug and you should be set. It took me a minute to do it on mine. Just jacked the car up and pulled it and thats it. Its the along the side of the transmission the last one before the transmission mount.
