My dad works for XXXXXX insurance agency as an appraser. I went with him today to look at a 2003 Altima 2.5s and a 1988 Cadillac Deville. The pictures can be viewed here http://www.villagephotos.com/p...63535 .If you look closely you can see that the drivers area was highly intruded by the floor pan and also the roof. I have seen lots of wrecks, but this by far was the worst one I have seen. Though strangely the Cadillac (an older car made before airbags and crumple zones) is not nearly as damaged as the Altima and the drivers area is not intruded at all. I think Nissan needs to do a little more research on its crumple zones and driver protection areas. Just something for you Altima drivers to think about.

yeah, there are so many variables in car accidents though.ive cleared some horrible wrecks before [tow truck + police calls]like a 93 mustang that seprated in two pieces [driver dead] roll overs, telephone poles, head ons, ect ect ect... ive seen it all.

...are you serious? Do you really think that the collision happened at the normal testing speed required by law?

That accident happened at a much higher speed...or the combination of both cars hitting head-on was much more than any testing could have replicated.

my civic got rear ended by a honda highlander, the highlander front end was completly destroyed with various radiator peices flown around and the wheel alignment shot to hell

me, because i had 2 coolers in the back, 2 tents and 4 sleeping bags, i only got a bent hatch and a destroyed bumper, go figure

alot of things are taken into consideration in real life car accidents, angle of the collision, amount of passangers, downhill, up hill, etc.

so please, dont make general assumptions about these things, read the police report first and see what really happend.

Ouch...your car did well considering. I'm surprised their car was as much damaged as you say...it usually would have been the other way around.

i belive it was mostly due to the fact that my trunk/backseats where packed to the full with all my camping gear. and i since i was not braking "during impact" it eased the forces a little bit too

this is all to say that every car wreck has its own little nit picks.

check the forum for that car crash where a 240 landed into a tree, yet both passangers survived with minor bruises, but front end was completly trashed

ive seen volvo's cut in half from a concrete lightpost on a highway

its all situational

I work or a body shop in Orlando and we have a Honda accord that a girl got shot with a sawed off shotgun through the windshield. Lets just say it smells really bad on the inside!

Should I take a pic?

I think we have all seen our fare share of accidents, and the fact is they all suck. Most of the time the person was doing something stupid, but what really sucks is when they injure someone else.
