speed in 5th gear

does anyone have an idea of how fast an s13 ka would be going if you were in 5th gear doing around 5500-5700 rpm? i dont know why the speedometer only goes to 110mph !!!

There's a speed limiter set at 118. I know because I've bounced off it in my S13 a couple times. (on the track, not the street).

It would be around 125...but the limiter cuts in @ ~5k rpm or 113-118 mph (seems like they're all different).

My car hits 125 in fourth gear at 6800 rpms. I have the digital speedometer. I think it's 5 mph off (fast).

Well today I hit 118 in 4th and still had another 1500rpms to go until redline. Then again I also got an SR240.

I've hit about 5800 in fifth too. too bad the digital speedo tops at 125 mph. Sorry can't help you. you could buy an after market speedo from like autometer or something. I'm going to try the G-Tech pro soon and I'll let you know.

4th gear i can hit 118 at around i think 6k not positive but somewhere around there. Also my 3rd tops out at pretty much exactly 100.

Hey scott, I'm not too sure because it topped out in 4th gear at about 6800rpm. So I never bothered going into fifth. I'll try it again and let you know.

Oh yeah hold up, I did that 5800 thing when my speedo was broken. All I had was tach. So I still have no idea how fast 5800 5th gear is. My speedo works now!! Must try tommorrow!! HAHA

where do you go to try this at? i did it on one of my local highways at like 4:00 AM. it sucks that my motor blew a few weeks ago. i have always planned on getting an sr20det, but now i'm not sure if i want to spend 3-4 thousand for it. i'm sure i could get another really nice car for four thousand or so. let me know what you think.

there are quite a few places around where I live to do that kind of stuff. There is one particularly good place to rip where you can pretty much Max Out any car. It's on an interstate , you come out of a tunnel at about eighty five. The freeway then goes down the mountain slightly turning to the left. It's about 3.5 miles long. I took my friends VW to 150 mph (revved out fifth gear). Plenty room to stop , no other cars and no cops.

The safest and fastest ( pun intended )way to check your top speed ( well maybe not ) is to block your front tires jack up the back and floor it. make sure you have a friend watch and don't have your car facing anything. When I got my new digi speedo that's how I checked mine and learned that it tops out at 125mph in fouth not fifth. I think I'm going to have to get an aftermarket speedo to learn the true top speed of my car.

What would you rather have for about $4000? A turbo kit for the KA 7 psi good for 215 wheel hp installed. Or an SR with boost controller and fmic 15 psi 290 (est. ) whp not installed. up to you! I personally like hearing 500 hp SR rather than 500 hp KA. it just sounds cooler. But I'm keeping my KA , I have pride in this motor. Making my turbo kit right now and the exhuast manifold Is almost done!!!
