speed governor/check engine combo?

ok, so i've read posts and the 240sx.org FAQ on the speed governor, and i succesfully removed it by cutting the wire, and took the car past the 120 mark, now, i also read that in CA cars, this triggers a code, cause today under normal driving the check engine light came on, has anyone had this issue?
