My car's speed gauge hasn't been working for at least 4 or 5 years now. My dad was to lazy to look into it so I guess I have to. Everything else on the gauge cluster works just fine. The funny thing about the speedometer is that it works every now an then and when it does its usually after the car has been running for a while. I removed the speed sensor from the transmission and it seems to work just fine so im pretty sure its not that. I'm really not sure what it is at this point :gotme.. Any ideas? Is this problem common?

Mine hasn't worked for about 5 years. I'm on my third transmission (each with a different sensor). Everything else on my gauge is working fine too. Mine never works though, not even after driving for 20 minutes or so. I do see the needled buried allllll the way down so it is pointing straight down at my steering wheel, and occasionally, it will bounce almost up to the 0, stay for a couple seconds, then drop down to pointing at my steering wheel again and stays there for a few minutes until the next 'spike' up to 0...

Hmmmm and you have a 92 s13 as well... Maybe there's something wrong with the calibration or something.

it's the gauge. i had the same problem once. it's easy to replace. find yourself one at a local yard, and swap into cluster.

Check the wiring as far as you can as well for any opens/cuts or anything abnormal. Id start at the speedo sensor and work back/up. GL
