Because money IS an issue. I have no issue with tastefully modding an A/C, but personally, If I were to go with any kind of forced induction I would start with a better platform.Mr.Coupe wrote:
(On a side note:) Hey eastcoast coupes why is it that I see most AC's that are going forced induction on the WEST COAST? J/K

For me that's the biggest issue .... I know that one altima turbo owner has already killed his CVT, and I know of two CVT turbo owners who are trying to sell their cars. That's the biggest anti-vote right there.Mr.Coupe wrote:You also have the dangers if you have a CVT with the transmission messing up, pressure control silonoid and/or the torque converter going bad, but it is totally worth it I would say.
Are you running higher than 5 psi boost?Mr.Coupe wrote:I had an Injen intake and Stillen Cat-Back system before I put on my Turbo. The power differeance is totally insane from the mods you listed and the TURBO. It is true though about what you said. With the turbo the car requires more maintenance.......

I'm being completely serious and not trying to sound like a d!ck - is it worth the effort in install/maintenance/etc... if you're not running at least 15 psi (give or take?) I mean, once you're up at that level of investment, why run a wimpy 5 psi boost instead of going all out?
I've been running 7 PSI since I got the turbo installed 6 months ago. I'm getting my CVT built to stand 9 PSI and will leave it there. Tim at Speed Force Racing said that it is safe for the car to make 400HP with stock block and heads. Anything above that it's not the transmission you have to worry about it's the engine. I've been talking to him about building the engine to go BALLS DEEP, but I'll be looking at 12-15 K for that. I'm thinking at that price I'd be better off getting a GT-R since I've been thinking about getting one for a few months now. Makes more sence instead of putting all that money into the AC. And my wife could keep the AC.bige1027 wrote:

yea gotta agree the engine is to at most 400-425whp before you have to do pistons/rods/rings...bring the engine up to 350-360ish whp your in the 12s and your gonna eat alot of cars and keep up with mostMr.Coupe wrote:

Wait, who's building your CVT? Even Nissan dealers can't do CVT rebuilds; they ship everything off to JATCO for repairs. I would ask a lot of questions before letting a turbo shop dive into your transmission...Mr.Coupe wrote:

My transmission is getting done by Tim of Speed Force Racing. That dude is a MASTER mechanic.1125Altima3.5 wrote:

No doubt that he's good...but I would still find out exactly what he's doing and how many CVT rebuild he's successfully completed. Experience counts for a lot.Mr.Coupe wrote:

He has done it to a Sentra CVT and since I'll be the first AC to do it he is giving me a warranty. Others would have to talk to him about it.1125Altima3.5 wrote:

Do they offer warranties on the transmission rebuilds?
A warranty on a CVT build?! Good deal ... you should test it out and see what the limits on it are!Mr.Coupe wrote:
