Hmm, that's a bit odd. I've had mine up to 150kph no worries. That was with a US ecu too. The JDM ones have speed cut at 185kph.

Ok so I took my car to the track (drags) and in the middle of 3rd the car shuts down like a speed limiter, and comes back to life after it slows down. My ford ranger does the same thing at 90 mph so that's why I asked? But my speedo is way off and the cluster translates speed signal from the sensor and sends that to the ecu. At 45'mph the cluster is reading 90 so at mid track 85mph would be translated to the ecu as 170 mph?????? So thats my guess I need to fix my speedo and the eliminate the speed limiter

I thought the ecu doesnt have a speed limiter and why would the ecu cut the fuel once it thinks its going 170mph wouldn't that be a little to high? Why dont you just cut the signal going to the ecu and keep the signal going to the gauge?

Well it is needed as some sort of input I would think???? Idk but I definitely need to figure this out. I also don't think it cuts fuel I think it kills ignition! But it is a governor of some sort cause after I left the track on the highway home I punched it in third and with my foot holding the gas pedal to the floor the car shuts down then slows down, then picks back up after it slows down a bit. And did it repeatedly 3 times until I let up on the gas pedal! It is speed sensitive cause both of my runs at the track were almost identical ( like within a few tenths of a second. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for the input s13loverdrift1

Plus chrispy300 150 km/h is only 93 mph so that isn't very fast according to how high my speedo is reading. If I were doing 90 mph my cluster would be telling the ecu 180 mph because the actual speed of my car is twice that on the cluster and to the ecu. I highly doubt that there isn't a speed limiter governor. My 91 z shutdown at 155ish,maybe 160mph.

my 91 ka24de cuts out at 110mph, does the same thing. Cuts out ands starts back up again when i let the speed dip.

no problem I think it is just there to govern thats all. I cut the wire going sending the signal of speed going to the ecu and my car runs great. If the computer doesnt know how fast the car is going it can't mess with a limiter and since the speedo and signal going to the ecu are different and don't mess with each other you can just cut it without harm I did it with the VH and with the KA. It brings up a CEL but doesn't affect performance and doesn't put it in limp mode. Hope that helps I can find the wire color if you want hope this helps
