Spedo and Taillights not working?

Past few days ive notice my Spedometer isnt iluminating. Today I got pulled over and asked why I didnt have my lights on. I thought the cop was on crack, he didnt tell me or check if my lights were out... took my word I had them on . So now thanks to my friend I have noticed that my spedometer and my taillights are not working. Im guessing a short... but I dont wana go searching. Thanks in advance..........

change ur fuse that should solve your problem

Tried that, I belive it was the meter one I changed? It blew... Ill try again just incase it was bad luck.
