Hmm...the Bose system is about 268 watts....the non-bose would probably be somewhere lower around the 200 mark I would imagine...

What are you looking for this information for? IE, what are you planning on doing with said speakers?

where do you get these numbers from? BOSE doesn't release its specs on its car audio equipment...

in any case, I doubt the factory Bose system 268 watts...but I could be mistaken...

Also, the non bose system is DEFINATELY not 200 watts

The best Aftermarket decks only uput out about 22 watts RMS per channel. THe factory deck may be doing 10-15 watts x 6 at best!

He's probably referring to total wattage like the Ford Mustang 1000w shaker system.

Hey Matt, if you're going to add an amp, might as well get an amp that is 3 to 5 was capable and replace the rear deck speakers to take advantage of the full wattage of the amp and speakers. Infinity makes a decent 5 way amp (REF5350A) and I had two of those powering 8 speakers and 2 subs in my last vehicle

I can't find the original link I had on this, but I found another...

http://nissan-me.com/English/P...r.htm

Click on the Bose Audio System - it says its 264 watts.

http://www.motortrend.com/road....html

Motortrend says 264 too - so I was off a little...

Most of the other Bose systems in Nissan cars are at that 265 mark as well - my guess is instead of having multiple systems, nissan just takes economies of scale and throws the same on in each car.

Not recommended. Like Doc said above, I doubt there's more than about 10-15 watts per channel going to those speakers. Blowing them would be far too easy. Additionally, you wont gain much by amping the stock paper speakers. You'd be better served by spending the money you have now on upgrading the speakers, then save up and get an amp for the aftermarket speakers later. Amping the paper speakers with their little magnets will not end well.

I built the box myself. There weren't any custom boxes on the market that suited my needs, so I fiberglassed one up myself (cheaper than paying a shop hundreds to do it). Any reputable car audio shop could definitely build something similar (and in all fairness probably do a better job - that was my first time working with fiberglass).

I've seen those figures before, but I question their accuracy. Also, there is no mention of that being RMS wattage or peak wattage (judging by Bose's history - if that is where Nissan got the numbers from - my guess would be peak wattage). I almost wish I still had a Bose system somewhat handy so I could test the ACTUAL output.

Actually, someone I work with has the Alti sedan with Bose, but I'm not about to sit outside at lunch and check it out when it is below freezing outside. Maybe that will be a good springtime project for me to investigate.

Hey Apple, How does one measure the true wattage?..RMS and Peak?

Gain setting tutorial from my FAQ

That's essentially all the work that is needed for these calculations. This is all based on theoretically ideal situations. However, that math can be used to generate a close estimate. Within these constraints, peak power is close to double RMS power. In real world applications, this holds fairly true. There are so many factors involved with these measurements that running the pure physics of the equation make the math insane, so this is totally simplified.
