im already gonna swap to five lug, seeing how ive already got some Works waiting in my living room. im gonna use Ichiba hubs, to make stuff simple.

for a bit, im gonna just use my stock brakes with redrilled rotors, since i plan on upgrading to z32 brakes, z33 front rotors shortly afterwards.

BUT, as a regular inexpensive wheel setup to give me time to do body work and stuff to fit the works properly, ive come across a set of Ford OEM wheels from work...

theyre off an explorer, i believe. 17 x 7.0 +44

yeah, crappy offset, etc etc. but im not trying to push the boundaries, and i dont really have access to any s14 SE's.

i just need something thats five lug that i can work with for a few weeks. plus, free used tires from work for me to use up.

would a 17x7 +44 fit on an s13 somewhat nicely?

theyll fit about the same as your teardrops do, aka sunken as atlantis

but no worse than stock, at least

as long as youre not paying for them go for it

if you are paying, no point, unless your stock tires are worn out and you can get the freebies for the 17s...wtf size are your new wheels that its going to take so long to fit them?

im sure they'll be sunken, im just wondering about that extra inch, and the +4 higher offset than stock.

and my stock wheels are four lug. im swapping to five. i need something to ride on until i properly fit my works.

theyre 18x9.5 +12. and im going low.

its not that its gonna take "so long" really, i just dont want to install my control arms, coilovers, hubs, wheels and tires all at the same time, having to do my fender rolling/pulling all within a couple days or so.

its easier for me to go in stages. so, suspension, hubs, expedition wheels and some freebie tires from work. THEN setup my Works with tires and do the body work at a separate time. makes it easier.

are you suggesting i just get the hubs, wheels and tires, and install all that at the same time, directly followed by fender rolling and pulling? and run my coilovers and stuff with my teardrops for a while, like in my sig?

i say id probably start with the coilovers and control arms, and roll the fenders and pull the liners and relocate the harness and hammer up there all at once, thats a good first step

next obviously you get the tires on, and depending on how much of a stretch you want the pull really wont take long...do the hubs along with wheels and tires and the pull in a second step...itll take less time than the stuff in the first step, and you avoid spending any extra money just to use them for a short period of time

really the question here is is the money you spend on the wheels worth the time to do the hubs the same day you throw the works on instead of beforehand

if this confuses you more like i feel its going to, let me know, ill try and rephrase tomorrow when i can think straight haha

PS hubs and coilovers will be the two longest parts of the process so id probably want those on different days no matter what route you end up doing

btw are you saying youre changing coilovers...since your car already looks like you have them, plus your tein userbar

I don't think the bolt pattern is the same. According to this list the Expedition has a 5X135 bolt pattern - http://www.vehicle-bolt-patter....html.

i can install my coilovers at my house. i can bring my car to work and get the hubs swapped out in no time, basically.

i dont get that, hahaha

EDIT: EXPLORER, not expedition. my bad.

oh, and also, nismo, the car in my sig i totalled back in april. i have another coupe now, you can find a thread about it in the 240gen. so ive got parts from my black coupe (in sig) and im putting them on my red coupe. same coilovers, just swapping cars, since my black one (in sig) is now only a front clip.

sorry for the late reply, but it seems as if Chris answered all your questions already anyways.

Let me also suggest that while you have those 17x7's, use those to align your suspension. That way when you toss on the Works, you'll know exactly how much to roll/pull/stretchiness-of-teh-tires

alright, the part you quoted, heres what im saying

basically, you can do everything except the wheels, tires, and fender pull now, but get the temporary wheels on and get the hubs done

or, you could do everything except hubs, final wheels, and fender pull, then do the hubs in no time like you said, and put the works on that day instead of running a temporary 5 lug setup

i think the second choice will work out just the same in the end, but save you the money that youd spend on the temporary wheels

how would doing my suspension alignment stuff tell me how much ill need to roll and pull my fenders before putting the works on?

and since the wheels would be from a coworker, ill get them cheap. im thinking 50 bucks for the set. and tires, as i said, would be free since so many come through my work.

so first, just do my suspension, leave my OEM wheels on, then do the hubs, rotor redrill. ford wheels and used tires, then let the car sit in my garage for a few days while i do the fender rolling and stuff and fit the works.

set your alignment where you want it to fit the wheels and run the tire size you want so that as soon as you put them on you can get the fenders done

if you read fitment threads youll get an idea of the camber youll have to run, then just count on that and maybe a little more, get everything set, that way you can pull as you want and fine tune, nothing says you cant align before the wheels are on and have to drive with stock camber to get an alignment then do fenders

that last run-on sentence was hard to understand.

so i should just get the alignment i want with the mean-time wheels?

so i wont have to fit my works, get an alignment, then fit them more.

sounds good i suppose.

yeah i guess haha

if you do get the temporary wheels, you get your final alignment with them, that way youve got it for when you put the works on

1. Install all the adjustable arms (Front t/c rods, rear adjustable ruca's, and rear adjustable toe links)

2. Roll your fenders (With 18x9.5 +12 you'll need to either stretch tires or do a big pull)

3. Install coilovers and dial in a LOT of camber so wheels won't rub

4. do 5 lug conversion

5. Test fit wheels

6. Bring car to alignment shop and do alignment

7. You are now hella flush

yeah, i was kinda thinking about doing it like that. since ill be buying my tires from my work. installing my tires at work. probably installing my hubs at work, and i can get an alignment at work.

but then id only have one set of five lug wheels. no spare, no backup set or anything.

we'll see how stuff turns out. i still need to order all my internals, but even that might be put off even more due to some more car problems with my brothers car.

and of course, im the only one who's got money in bulk.

youd be better off buying another cheap set of 5 lug wheels...if you want a spare set for drifting or whatever get a set of MBs for $500, theyre wider and will fit nicer overall
