i just ordered a set of wheels in a group buy. the wheel sizes/offsets are:

front: 17x8.5JJ +25Rear: 17x9.5JJ +30

my question is, will i need to roll/pull the fenders on either end or can i find tires that will fit with this combo? i know the wheels will clear my brakes, and with these offsets my coilovers should be ok but the fenders i'm not so sure about.

any wisdom?

i wanna see them on too, lol. but i'm not sure if they will clear coilovers and rolled fenders. and the guy that's working the group buy doesn't seem to know much about them either, he suggested i run a 215 tire in the rear (on a 9.5" wide rim? ) i'm scared to take his word for it now;)

your front coilovers will be far from "ok" with those offsets. an 8.5" wheel should really be a 15mm offset, which would stick out quite a bit...keep in mind s13 fenders are narrower than s14 also.

and even then, with that wid e arear wheel, you'll be pushing it. this is the *last* time I say this before I start flaming people I swear to god, read the stickies, search, and ask yourself "DO I NEED WHEELS THAT WIDE"

christ, Im about sick of it./end rant-chet

Sorry to jump into this thread, but what is a good offset for:17x8 F17X9 R

So that it is flush with the fender? I've searched and really haven't found a definitive answer. TIA

don't have an aneurysm over it man. i asked a question and you answered it. i'm changing my order to 17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rears.

If you ran lots of negative camber in the front, you might not have had to roll the fenders.

yeah, but this is a daily street car, so i don't want to replace tires once a month:D

as much as i love some wide rims with some nice meats on them, it will be more trouble than it's worth having to camber the hell out of the wheels and roll/stretch the fenders to make it all work.

Too bad camber won't do that. :)

I'm running full negative in the front on my car and have been since I installed my struts w/ tein tops...I have NO uneven tire wear. I think the tires have seen about 15K already. My rears on the other hand are getting it's third set this week.:D

that's odd, i've run about 3 degrees of negative camber before and it destroyed my tires in about 5k miles (and yes, the caster/toe specs were correct). you must be good luck:ylsuper

dori is just special. :p

I am sorry about flipping out, but as dori knows, i've been answering that same question 40 times or more. Just relaly got on my nerves(but hey, at least when I flip out, I still give you the info requested)

I think offset and camber can both affect the tires synergystically, if you have a low offset wheel, high negative camber car, that inner edge is going to get fried if you dont use it on the track(where the tire will roll more into its contact patch)

I may do an alignment FAQ soon, want to help dori?-.-

I'm still exp with alignment specs on this car...but sure. I'm installing new Tien tie rods soon so I'll be on the rack if you want pics or something. Let me know.
