I live in san diego and none of the dealerships have a 6 spd manual black on black fully loaded altima coupe 3.5se. I asked if i can special order and the AAA certified dealer said i can give him 500 and he will special order, but he would not give me the price quote for the car because he doesnt have the vin number. Is he just screwing me over and going to give me a ridiculous price to rip me off? Is it better to go to LA and try to get a car there? any help would help..thanks

Just make sure the deposit is refundable. Most are. Can't hurt to put down the money and be able to get it back if need be. Go and build one on Nissanusa.com and that should give you an idea of price.

when my dealer special ordered for me, the deposit was nonrefundable. Since it was a special order, they said the $500 was non refundable.

The VIN number should not matter. If you tell them the specific options that you want, they should know the invoice and MSRP prices and should be able to give you a price quote. Most deposits are non-refundable... I would go to a different dealer.

I suppose that in this case with this car the deposit would be non-refundable because they have to spend the money to ship a special ordered car to the dealership.

^^ He's right. They should still be able to give you a price based on what you are purchasing.

Thats is soo Weird! I'm having the same problem finding what I want. Some dealerships don't want to talk about ordering one for me if you don't come up with a price agreement . So I can say I have not gottent that far yet. Or I have had some take down all my info and what EXACTLY I want in the car. Once they find me one they will give me a call and then we talk money. I guess it depends. I've been waiting for about a month now and nothing! The wait is driving me crazy!!!!

But I would say that dealership is pulling your leg. If they had what you wanted in front of your eyes I bet you'll be willing to pay more for it if it was not in front of you. Thats what they are counting on!

Be careful, if you let them they will get every penny off of you!

I got a price "worksheet" before I ordered mine. It had the car price, discount, trade info, estimate on taxes and tag.

What that dealer is telling you is bs. Lock in a price before you order it. I got my price locked in before I ordered it & I also got a price worksheet. They are probably going to mark up the price when your car gets there & since you waited you are more than likely going to pay close to their asking price. If you don't they could care less because they won't have a hard time selling it.
