A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

My friend is looking for a car since her Mustang was totalled. She says that she wants the Spec-V. I was like ok, lets go find some. I had never drivin a spec-v until today. I am very impressed. I have a few questions though. How fast do you go though tires? The factory shoes seem very soft. Is there anything I need to look out for(common problems)? Thanks for you help!

The OE Continentals are known for being crap, heck, any OE Sentra tire is crap from what I've heard.

Depending on the year, watch out for recalls.

02 had a big pre-cat recall (the first cat - in the exhaust mani - had junk sucked out of it through the exhaust valves and BLAMMO, goodbye engine), also watch for a crank position sensor recall on 02's and 03's.

The tranny was geared oddly in 02-03, that was fixed in 04, and a number of 02-03s have 04 trannies for various reasons, mostly because there were a few bad trannies in the first two years.

04's have that hidious buck tooth grille.

Watch the MAF too, especially on cars with CAIs, many a MAF in 00+ Sentras has been blown by improper CAI or crappy CAI installs.

Oh, and 02-03s and maybe the new ones too have issues with the butterfly screws coming loose and heading for the block. If they aren't loctited in, do it as soon as you can.

I think that's most of it. Just make sure all the recalls have been done and they're great cars.

Thanks. I know about the exhaust recall and crank/cam sensor recall. I did a few when I worked at the Nissan dealership. I was only there for 2 months so I didn't get to learn much about the product. The little Sentra does haul some serious a$$ though. I was breaking the tires free with no real effort. When you say butterfly I am thinking you mean the throttle body.

I will be going to Louisville today to look at two of these. There really aren't that many around that we could find. Thanks again and wish us luck!

I had an 02 Spec V.

I really liked the car. It was fun to drive, handled very well, quick, etc...

I had very good luck with mine mechanically speaking. So I was a big fan of the car. I only got rid of it because I could lease an 04 Accord V6 for the same as my payments were on the Spec.

If I were looking to buy one today, I would check out B15sentra.net or TheVBoard.com. Go through the classifieds... there are usually quite a few for sale there. You will get a better price than buying through a dealership.

Yeah, check those classifieds, there are plenty of Spec owners out there looking to sell and get an Evo/STi.

Hey if you are coming to Louisville and end up buying a Spec and want an exhaust I have my old one for sale. It is a 5Zigen Fireball cat-back that I used on my when it was n/a. That way you don't have to pay for shipping

Hey people! My first post! I'm the one that bought the Spec V in Cincy. Love the car so far. I love being back in a Nissan. This Sentra is actually more fun to drive than my Mustang was. It's used and obviously needs some help because some people can't take care of their stuff for some reason. But I love my new car and am excited about being here. Thanks for the help!
