I was thinking the other day about Versas and I started to think about making it faster.

So,my question is this, can a QR25 be put into a versa without major custom work?(i know, any motor can be put into anything with enough money.)

I dont have a Versa yet but I think they are really badass cars for what you get.I plan to get one in the future and i might try this when i get it.

Just think about it,throw on some good suspension upgrades,a decent body kit(or maybe just spoilers front and back) and lighten it up a bit and VIOLA! A Versa SE-R spec-V.

Is this any kind of feasible or am i just thinking a little to hard.Any input is appreciated greatly.>>>>>>>>A.J.

(EDIT: If this is in the wrong forum than can one of you nice Mods move it accordingly, thank you. )

The better motor would be the SR20VE. After a few choice upgrades you would be good for more than 200whp.

i did not think about that motor. i am assuming it is lighter than the QR.but i was thinking of motors that are easily accessible.

also is it easier to fit into the engine bay?

how is build quality as opposed to the QR?>>>>>>>A.J.

I think this would be the right place for the thread.

Something to consider: it will be hard to mount most older 4-cylinders as the Versa's (and '07 Sentra's) MR series engine is the first of the Nissans to put the intake manifold on the front and the exhaust manifold on the rear, as opposed to the other way around.

This allows the engine to be mounted in a shorter bay, allowing the passenger compartment to be moved forward.

It will be hard to refit another engine in it. However, allegedly there will be a new SE-R version of the Sentra later this year, which likely means an MR (or close variant thereof) with some huevos.

There are also other issues involved in just the physical fitment of the engine. If you were to swap in a QR (VERY stupid move...least reliable engine nissan has released in a looong time) you would have to retain the ECU, which would mean you would probably have to rewire most everything in the car. Since all these stupid new electrical gadgets have been released, it's been making it a lot harder on enthusiasts to work on their cars, and even harder to do things like engine swaps.

Therefore, even if the QR engine and transmission were to physically fit (doubtful) it would take a LOT (and I mean a lot) of work to make it run. Save it for 10 years down the line when you can get a versa for $2k...

The SR20VE is pretty easy to get. hell you could get the SR16VE which is pretty much a SR20VE but a 1.6 that revs to the moon and back. Just think of the SR20DE when you think of the SR20VE, looks the same from the outside just a few things diffrent that you would have to look for to notice it was a VE. Here is what mine put down on the dyno. Factory SR20VE exhaust manifold, 2.25 cat to 2.5 exhaust. Warm air intake, SR16VE cams and a 8.5lb flywheel. Run 19 is with the same mods cept I got a light port n polish done to the head. The motor makes the car so much fun to drive

Ohh yeah check out SR20forum.com in the VE section. My cams are switching over to the VVL lobes at 4700 for the intake and the exhaust switches over at 4800. I forgot to mention that I have a chiped DE ecu in it too. I set the rev limiter to 7600 since power starts to fall around 7400. There are a few factory cam upgrades, like the SR16VE cams that I have in. The factory SR20VE power falls off at 7100-7200ish, N1 cams need better springs but you can rev them out to 9k and make peak around 8700ish.

Considering that the QR is a piece of garbage, and the SR is a proven reliable power plant, I'd say it's EXTREMELY GOOD as opposed to the QR.
