Hey guys, I just put in a spec stage 3 clutch and put about 20 miles on it so far. Going very easy beating it in. My question.... My clutch pedal feels like a stock honda civic pedal... I know this isn't right because I had a spec stage 2 and it was a lot harder. Here is what I did..

Everything is torqued down correctly..Cleaned everything with brake cleaner prior to installation..Removed the damper box..Got all the bubbles out of the lines.. Only fluid comes out now...Studders when first taking off (I read other posts and lots of people are having this issue)

I know this isn't what a stage 3 should feel like. Please help

Yeah pressure plate is new too. Doesn't grind or anything when shifting so i'm pretty sure it engages and disengages properly. I actually called a tech from Spec and he told me that it should feel softer than stock for 1-2 months then it will harden up. (My damper box is also out) We will see though... I put about 30 miles on it so far.

You didn't mention whether you're using an oem pressure plate or the Spec plate. Oem pressure plate will make the clutch feel much softer than it should.

ive put on about 4000 on it... love it.... the first couple weeks were pretty harsh for street driving and then it cleaned up. you really have to try for smooth shifts with everyday driving, but remember, it is a 6 puck

I'm not a pu$$y when it comes to harsher clutches. It wouldn't stop me from getting a good clutch.

I use the ACT street clutch for the SR. The clutch is an organic clutch so it engages very smoothly, the only thing is that the pressure plate is heavier than stock but it's nothing unbearable. ACT says it holds over 300lb ft of torque which should be more than what most people would need. Im running a GT2871R and after a year I still have no problems with the clutch.

I have an XTD Stage 3 with the same problem, super soft bedal. Softer than my stage one I just removed. So its supposed to clear up after a few months? Thats good to know. I was just going to pull my transmission and tighten the pressure plate bolts to the max torque specified. I'll just wait it out a little bit.

I had a SPEC stage 3 and it was also soft. And it doesn't get harder. The SPEC clutch was great when I was running around 250-300 whp. When I started putting close to 450whp it became ****ty exspecially in 4th and 5th gear. I went with the EXEDY Stage 3 and it is a whole lot smoother and grabs alot better than the SPEC. I would recommend the EXEDY if you plan on going near the 400 mark.

As mentioned before the SPEC stage 3 clutch just feels that way, plain and simple. The clutch is a pretty good clutch unless you're pushing upwards of 400+rwhp. I ran it in my car and liked the light clutch petal feel. I ran mine for the break-in period of the car. I have my spec stage 3 (and fidanza flywheel) for sale because I need a beefier unit to handle the power I plan on running this summer. I want 340.00 and you can have the Spec stage 3 clutch and the fidanza flywheel. They've been driven on for less than 1000 miles.

ThanksAaron

I had a ACT street disk with hd pressure plate. the act pedal is way heavier than the spec. the ACT only holds about 280-290 tq. Spec is pretty streetable to me, espically whit the light pedal.

So far my Spec is pretty nice, not sure on the mileage. but probably 10kish.

So how many miles was it when it started getting "heavier" I've barely put 200 miles on it and it feels like I'm stepping on a newborn. Just changed the slave cylinder and it feels a little better not much though. Running stock KA btw.

This is a seven year old thread. I applaud you for using the search function! However, I highly doubt you'll get any replies from the posters that participated in this thread as just about all of them no longer post on NICO. If you're having an issue with the stiffness of your clutch pedal, make a new thread in 240 Tech, please.
