I've been looking into getting a Spec clutch and I can't decide between stage 1 or 2. I use the car for mostly street driving, but I was thinking about getting into a bit of Autocross and some drifting. They say the Stage 1 is good for street, drifting, autocross, and a bunch of other stuff. The stage 2 is good for street, drag, and autocross, but not drifting. I'm curious about your opinions and personal experiences with Spec clutches and if they are worth my time.

3 puck, twin disk, unsprung is awesome for the streets.

A state two is very streetable as long as its sprung.

I have had one Spec stage 2 clutch installed on a 9psi s/c lt1 Z28 and the unit was horrible. I know its not a Nissan but that one unit will keep my from personally buying anymore of Spec's products. The unit didnt last 10k miles overall, had unreal chatter with no more engagement/grip then i had with the oem clutch and pressure plate. But that is just one unit and one review, i bought Spec b/c i heard alot of good things about their company. I personally have become a fan of the "White Rabbit" swap, with the 240mm d21 flywheel and 240mm clutch disk/PP(we used a 280z turbo setup) for the budget 240 minded.

I have the stage 2 on my car and it is pretty much like stock. except it clamps way better when launching.

I kinda wish I would have gotten stage 3 though.

reason I wanted the stage 3 though is because the guy from spec told me it would be a bit more aggressive.

also, if you look around on nico, you will find a thread about spec clutches. one of the sale reps from Spec posted to the thread saying that he can hook you up. He posted like a year ago or so, but I contacted him anyways (about 5 months ago) and he gave me a nico discount.

I think I'm leaning toward the stage 2. I posted my own thread after searching because none of the threads I found were suffice for my review research.

Injen intake and ebay exhaust. I'm getting a new muffler because the old one has a silencer that's stuck in.

Yeah I was looking into Exedy clutches. My friend Carlos said he's had problems with them, but I wanna get more than just one experience.

Your friend fails. I've have Exedy stage one clutch with Fidanza 11 lbs flywheel for over 3 years. I love it to death! It's much more grabby than stock, but without being overly stiff. Even in bumper to bumper traffic, my clutch has been a joy.

But when I was thinking of going KA-T, when was considering the 'White Rabbit' clutch. It sounds like a winner, too...

this has been exactly what ive been looking for. are you just runnin a stock KA? but ive also heard negative things about them. i guess it depends on how you drive. id like to hear from more people that have experience with it tho like gir said.

I might take this into consideration. I still want more experiences and opinions.

Yep. See sig. I don't drift, but I used to drive like an a$$hole madman. Hard launching, highway running, winding roads, the occasional clutch kicks, donuts, etc... I've since calmed down, but my clutch still begs to be beat on regularly.

That's exactly what I do. I mean I drift. I pull my car every now and then. I usually pull her when I get on the highway, but I need a better clutch for that. Maybe I'll take your idea, but other than that, I'm gonna wait for some more opinions.

Completely off topic, but how comfortable are those JIC coils you have?

I just had a Stage 1 Exedy Clutch installed, using the OEM flywheel.

Pedal feels amazing! .. Compared to the stock one.

I read for a DD stage 1 is basically like stock but better.

Give me a call sometime and ill help you decide which one is best for what you plan on doing. There are plenty of options we can setup for you.

They're not as comfortable as my old Tanabe Seven's but they're also more forgiving than Tein HE (Super Drift) and way better than the lower brand s***. I would compare them to Stance GR+ without the helper springs.

Yeah. I'm probably just gonna settle for Megan streets. I've heard good things.

I purchased a Spec stage 2+, which if I recall hold more torque?? I'm not sure, I bought it a year and a half ago. It will be accompanied by a Fidanza 11lb flywheel

BTW: it hasn't been installed. Car not running yet

Anytime you have a pedal feel change after the car warms up or anything temp. related and pedal change it normally has something to do with hydraulics. Double check your slave and master. Get a good bleed on it and you should see the issue go away.
tEknoS13 wrote:I purchased a Spec stage 2+, which if I recall hold more torque??
Yes this stage does hold more torque then a stage 2 or stage 1.
