I am currently doing my swap and finally got the motor in and all i have to do is put on all the goodies but I came across a problem. I realized I bought s14 intercooler piping for a s13 blacktop. I went with the chassis instead of the motor and I think I am wrong. I know somebody who has the same intercooler but did the opposite and they went s13 piping and it still didnt fit. Does the spec M intercooler piping only works on s13 motor to s13 car and s14 motor to s14 car? Its sunday and nothing is open and I want my car started up today. can someone help me ?

piping should be for the model of the car not the engine..s14sr's and s13sr's are pretty much the same in that sence..are you sure you are doing this correctly? or are you sure you ordered for the s14 body not the s13 and are you sure that guys didnt work either? there could have been some sort of miscommunication somewhere

no you want to buy your intercooler according to what engine you have.

S14 engines have throttle body thats positioned different than S13 engines. Also, the turbo outlet is different which angles the hot pipe in a different way than S13 hot pipes.

When you buy an intercooler kit you want to go with what engine you have and make necessary modifications to fit your chassis.

oops...i knew the TB's were positioned differently but i thought it would be easier to make that modification that it would to modify the plumbing to fit the body

its alot easier to make modification to the chassis. i.e. cutting a hole to accomodate the IC pipes, make some new brackets, etc etc.

That compared to try bending pipes to make it fit your engine.... now thats hard.

You are going to have to cut the cold pipe, and use some couplings or have the peices welded together to get the S14 kit to work on the S13 Throttle body.

Since you have the S14 FMIC kit, get an S14 hot pipe on ebay and cut it also with couplings for the different turbo outlet angle.

Good luck,__________________________Jeff HHeavy Throttle Performance Inchttp://www.heavythrottle.com

Yea I had talked to Los on another forum. The other person with fitment issues that he is referring to is me. Here's what I sent him.I figured I would forward it onto here, since others might have the same questions.

-----------------------------

I did get the s13 kit because I have the S13 motor. I had issues on the cold-side because there was too much space between the pipes. So I went to Titan and had them weld on 1" to each side of that elbow.Tecnhically you could use the couplers to gap this difference, but we know that welds are stronger than couplers.

The elbow on the bottom right is the one that was extended. Also, I wasn't using the recirculating valve, so I had that part capped off as well. Adding 1" on each side of the the elbow allowed me to fit the foglights (I sure as hell wasn't going to lose the foglights on the S14 lol).

The brackets for the bottom of the intercooler and the radiator support didn't fit either. I had to make a small bracket.

On the hot side, the supposed "Greddy" hot-pipe (that came with the car) and the Greddy intercooler pipe didn't line up at all.

This is the way that it looked before:

I was going to get the Greddy pipe extended (which is just under 2" or something) but no one stocks that size pipe. After waiting a week for the special order pipe to come in (which never did) I just broke down and bought a Enjuku hotpipe. Surprisingly the hotpipe was longer and almost fit. There was still a 3" vertical gap between the Greddy intercooler piping and hotpipe though. I got a length of coupler from Forge Motorsports (which I have extra if you need it).

Good luck.I did get in a pretty big discussion with Enjuku's mechanic, he guarenteed me that the kit was a direct bolt on, but I think my pictures prove otherwise.

If you modify the core mounts you can get it to fit with nothing extra needed. The core has to move in almost 2 full inches, notching some parts makes it work.

S13 chassis is a lot easier since the bumper core can be tossed.

No worries dude. You have my number. If anything, you could get a new cold-pipe from Project Silvia or you could borrow my pipe (since my car is down) and have someone fab a new one for you.
