Simple response - nope, they're not plug and play. If you use the search there are tons of threads that will go into more detail (if you want it). Also, in my opinion the Bose system only sounds marginally better than the base system. For the money, you could do significantly better.

Agreed, I mean I love my Home Theater Acoustimass Series IV's but for the car BOSE means

Better Off w/ Something Else...I mean its an ok system but for the money you can do better, I am not all that impressed with my Stock BOSE system.

You need the Bose amp in order to drive the Bose speakers properly because the 6X9's have low impedance (1 ohm?) drivers. Also, Bose sets the EQ for the system in the amp as well. You would be better off getting a custom system system than trying to upgrade at this point.

Ever since I got my 08 Coupe 3.5SE with the Bose system, I alway thought the center front channel was overpowering and it sound like a mono system.

Well, I fix that yesterday. Took a mouse pad, cut to size and tape it over the front center speaker...

Instantly sound better, more spatial, more stereo seperation, more realism. easy $1 fix. I am much happier now.

this is a common technique used in audio setups to decrease the brightness/harness of metal tweeters! Its usually done with carpeting, a mous pad all but eliminates the sound... but hey, whatever works right!
