Are they for the front or the rear of a hatch? If they are for the front then you can just use an adapter plate and run 6.5's. I would stay away from Sony, Pioneer, Jensen etc. I have JL Audio's on sale right now and will sell you the adapters for dirt cheap. If you do indeed have a hatch and are talking about the rears, then I have 4x6's in stock also...... I just don't have them listed.

Yes, the adapter allows you to fit a 6.5" in the door in place of the 4x6. The rears you can't do much with without getting somewhat custom.

Or DLS RA6s up front

You have your sub amp turned too high. Your sub is peaking before your mid highs. If you turn your sub down, then you will be forced to turn the volume up more to achieve the same amount of sub bass. Obviously at this higher "volume" your mid-highs will be louder in ratio to your sub. New speakers are not going to get you more volume.

Do you have an amp for the main speakers? If not you will definately need one.

I'd recommend a set of component 6.5" speakers. DLS is the best bang for the buck, and will give you the best sound quality. They'll be able to keep up with your sub, but you'll need about 75~100w RMS from your amp.

I highly recommend model R6A from DLS for the components. Order then off ebay for ~$130 for the pair. this can't be beat.

Umm, that's because you're using factory electronics to power your crappy sony speakers. Your best route would be to buy a new headunit, amp and speakers, but I realize that is fairly expensive.

DLS is good, Infinity is good. Broadfield is a forum sponser, and without sponsers, we wouldn't have a forum. I'd check out his sales and see what you can find in your price range.

1 way = 1 speaker driver (full range)2 way = 2 speaker drivers (woofer for lows and a tweeter for highs)3 way = 3 speaker drivers (woofer for lows, mid range for mids and tweeter for highs)4 way = 4 speaker drivers (unless spending BIG bucks, you'll get degraded sound quality [over a quality 2way] and spend more! Lose/lose situation)

What's best? 3way component set, but only if you're going to be spending more than 800.00 for the pair. Next best, 2way component set and then coaxial's

dls is a leader in sound quality. Infinity speakers are recommended because they get crazy loud, but dont sound that good.

jl audio makes some descent speakers, but for the price dls blows them away
