I got a 90 240 and when i got it the door speakers were the infiniti 4X6's that were a big plate with a smaller speaker in em, n e ways i bought mb quart speakers to replace them and when i tried to put the mb quart speaker in the plastic mounting piece the holes dont even come close. i read the other thread about this, but i need more info, i have the main plastic piece that screws to the door, is there another piece that goes on top of that, that the speaker goes into or something?? PLEASE HELP its really pissing me off. Thanx. Pictures would be great if n e one has a digi cam..

I can help, I just installed MB quarts in my 91 240. What I did, since the holes aren't even close enough to just drill new ones is this- Made adapters out of an old road sign. I used the oem speakers to make a pattern then cut them out and drilled two sets of holes, one for the stock mounting holes, the other for the holes on the speakers. You'll also need to use some spacers because the MB Quarts aren't as shallow as the stock speakers. I'd post some pics but I don't have a digicam right now. Hope this helps.

yeah i had the same problem a few months ago. if you replacing the audio deck as well, you can take out the co-procesor (the curcit board behind the stock spearker) and it should leave you with enough room to put in the speaker flush

When I got my new Rockford 4x6's for my doors, of course they wouldn't fit the stock plastic piece. The holes lined up, but the speaker plate was too wide to fit. So, my friend and I just used a wire cutter to trim off some of the metal and bolted the damn thing on there.

Whyever Nissan decided to make such strange speaker enclosures is beyond me, but with a little creativity you can make it work.

How do you get to the speaker's in the doors anyway? I looked at the grilles and it appears that I may have to take the whole door panel off. I'm really confused about why I should have to dismantle my door to change out my speakers. The fronts are blown, and the rears are almost as bad, I won't survive the summer if I don't change them out.

Im afraid you do have to take the door panels off. I installed a set of new speakers in my 90 240sx hatchback and it took me about a half hour. If your somewhat mechanically inclined it shouldn't be a problem.

good luck!

I had a 89 Accord before the 240, those door panels are like the wrapping around my Alpine head unit. don't take it off if you want to put it back on! I hope these ones are a little easier, thanks for confirming my suspicions guys! :)

The door panels aren't actually too hard to take off... take off the window crank (there's a pin holding it in), a screw inside the door grip thingy, then just the clip things around the outside, comes right off.
