I owned my own install business and I have to say, the most impressive speakers are as follows:

SPEAKERS:

WITH AMP:

Alpine Type R Components or 6.5 Coaxial

Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5 Coaxial

Diamond Midrange Components

WITHOUT AMP:

Alpine Type S Coaxials (Much better than you could imagine)

NEVER GET:

Pioneer, Sony, Dual, JVC, or anything that you don't immediately recognize as quality: i.e. Good: Alpine, Clarion, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, Diamond, JL Audio.

SUBWOOFERS:

Alpine Type R 12" Dual 4 ohm voice coil

Rockford Fosgate P2 or P3

AMPS:

Alpine or Alpine Digital Amps are awesome

JL Audio = top of the line

...BUT REMEMBER! YOU HAVE TO DYNAMAT THE DOORS AND THE SUB BOX. IT MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!!

Whatever you do, if you end up opening up the dash, do NOT disconnect the passenger airbag light! You'll deactivate the system, and your dealer will charge you $100 or so to reset it.

I have the Alpine F-450 amp and Type-E sub i must say that the two and the Alpine Type-R Componets are worth the money. looking at alpine deck. But the above are good wit the factory deck.

VersaGirlie, shoot me an e-mail at [email protected], let me talk to you about your system privately . . . . If you want that is.

I had (4) 6 1/2" Alpine Type R's in my old '01 Mirage and was going to get the same for my Versa but I ended up going with some 6 1/2" Infinity speakers instead.

The Infinity's blow the Alpines out of the water when it comes to Highs. Go to Best Buy and listen to them there. It's way clearer and if you happen to be friends with anyone who works there ask them to get them for you. I got (2) sets for 90 bucks even. And no they weren't stolen...I got a receipt.

Anybody who knows about car audio knows Infinity speakers are not even close to be on the same level as Alpine. I am trying not to waste my money with all this little bs anymore, I am an SQ kinda guy myself and eventually I will get my Focal components, or maybe even some Rainbows, still undecided, and a Macintosh amp, if anybody in here happens to know who any of those companies are! lolz

im going all JL audio. i had a full JL system in my s10 and it sounded great. for the versa im going with a JL 300/2 amp to power 2 JL zr650csi in the front doors, a JL 1000/1 amp powering a single 13w7. should sound pretty sweet in my sedan

did you say sedan? Can you say trunk rattler!!! That 13W7 is going to over power your front stage for sure! I personally would not go with JL for highs, if you are going to run a 13W7, than mos def I think you should get some focal components!

I know the Alpine's are better overall but the Infinity's seem to hit the highs a little sharper than the Type R's.

When I first got the speakers I installed the infinity's on one side and the Alpines on the other just to see how well they resonated inside the car. I know it'll change when I get my new head unit installed( Kenwood Excelon KDC-x891) and add my components but for now my discounted sound system is enough to get by.

i kept my head unit just wired in an amp in back of the deck. i got to 12" 1200W Inphinitys with an Inphinity Amp. They ran me like 100$ each. the amp i got for 150$ (open box). the amp is only 350W (i will upgrade) but it sounds amazing. they might not be rockfords but they do justice. amazing sound.

just installed this exact system in a scion tc 2 weeks ago. sounds awesome. a properly matted cars trunk will not rattle. a single 13w7 didnt over power the front stage at all. remember u dont just thow in a system u tune it. i have heard some of the most expensive sounds systems sound like junk because of poor speaker placement ( i.e our versas stock location...i dont have ears on my ankles yet lol. but i will fix the angle and mod the door pannel on my install) and improper tuning. i have also heard some "best buy" systems sound awesome. but like you said .. u personally wouldnt go with them. but personally i will.i wouldnt go with the TR series but the ZR series sound great

Seay,

Since we live so close together, could I get you to help me out with getting that speaker placement, not that the Alpines I have aren't making a very crisp level of sound, but like you said, my ankles don't have ears...

The doors are dynamatted though, and I must say, it makes all the difference...

Since I have installed everything myself, I'm trying to get that damn sound to be better than Best Buy's install guys... who by the way are mostly rubbish, and get that 4 channel amp I want so I can push the Type -S with more than just the CDA-9856...

iPod connect has better than CD sound though because there is nothing lost quality wise in the Ai net...

Also, Clipsed...

Those Focal components are ridiculously pricey, I just figured that Versagirlie wasn't going to hit up SEMA or any other shows...

I went with Rockford Fosgate separates in the front. 6 1/2 in the door and tweets in the A pillars. Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2 co-axials in the rear doors and a JL Audio 10" sub in a bandpass box in the back. All of that is powered by an Alpine 5 channel amp. 50x4 + 200x1 for the sub. All that controlled by an Alpine IVA-W200 double DIN. I love it.

I'm insane about sound quality, so once I got the amp dialed in for proper levels it came out crisp and clean. There is absolutely no distortion at any volume level. The HU goes to 35 and I can't get it much past 28 without it just purely being too loud. As a bonus, the ports of the bandpass box are corner loaded so you can really appreciate that single 10" sub. Sure it takes up a little more room, but for clarity, bandpass boxes are the way to go.
