Hello all,
New to the forum. Looking forward to talking with you all. My question: I purchased a 1993 Nissan D21 Pickup from a friend. It is a 2.4 liter 5 speed manual single cab red pickup. It had a tape deck stereo in it with 2 door speakers that did not work. It looked like he used some of the radio connector but also ran a hot wire directly from the battery (no amp). I removed everthing and started fresh. Looking at the wiring I am confused about the speaker wiring. I have 2 brown wires, 2 pink wires, and 2 black wires for the speakers from the factory connector and harness. I wired the 2 brown wires to the driver side speaker output from the stereo and the 2 pink wires to the passenger side speaker output from the stereo. When I went to put the new speakers in the doors I found that the wires in the doors are all grey, one solid and one with a stripe. So I assumed the solid grey in the door is the positive and the stripped grey in the door is the negative. Wired it all up and the it works but the speakers start to distort and crack after only a very small amount of volume is applied. I was going to switch the speaker wires to see if the polarity is wrong but then I thought that I might have the wires wrong when I attached the original truck wiring harness to the stereo. Does anyone know what the speaker wires from the factory wiring harness look like and are the 2 brown, 2 black, and 2 pink correct? Thanks for your help.
