Speaker sizes for 240 hatch...URGENT FOR XMAS!

Hey, I wanna buy a buddy of mine new speakers for his 91 Hatch for Christmas, it's an SE, with the basic stereo I think. What size do you guys use when you upgrade your systems? I know I have 6 1/2"s in my 95 but I wasn't sure for the first gens.
