if its an 84 the fuse block by the drivers leg remove it. trace the white (batt) or white and red (acc) depending on which one you want. they should be rather thick about 12 gauge or so. trace it back about a foot (so you'll have slack both ways). and splice into it. that'll set up your lights.

man I told you the wrong thing thats what I get for talking before I've had my coffee in the morning. That above would work but they are the mains coming in and aren't fused. (fuses are good, prevents fires and stuff in the event of unintentional grounding). alright again on the backside of the fuse block same procedure. Green wire will be batt 11th fuse position, (its for the "clock" I don't even have one). or if you want acc (bat will run all the time independent of ignition position). The brown wire at the 7th fuse position ( radio / cigg lighter)

well if your radio is after market it'll have an accessory wire for turning on the amp now I wouldn't go wiring that into some lights but I might try switching a relay with it and then wiring a constant hot through the relay. If you wired direct chances are high that you'd brick your deck.

Why not just do it with a toggle switch?

I've got my headlight lamps on a toggle switch. It goes from the battery to an after market 6 blade fuse holder, to the toggle switch than to the lamps and finally grounded. The toggle switch is located to the left of the steering wheel.

yeah I'm about to move my headlights to toggle too. Not the blue though, headlights that are blue really irk me for some reason. I might just HID them. I know the door switch timer relay thingy is a little module on the passenger side. I was going to wire my custom int lights via the existing int light and found out the hard way that the batt and the int light is at a different potential ( wanted to parallel the new switch with the existing rig and blew a fuse). then I found the module and now I know why. I haven't dug enough to find out the wiring scheme off the module but I wouldn't think it'd be that hard as its still just one wire (uses ground for return via inspection of int light). It would just be difficult for me to move the wire locations for my custom int lights. so i'll prolly just move the module if and when I get the motivation to figure out the ins and outs of the thing. I'm sure its just a solid state timer (keeps the lights on for ex amount of time after power is terminated or whatever the logic is). I found it on accident when I re-carpeted the int.

I don't think I'd have use the switch directly with a headlight application though. You'd want to use the switch to pull in a relay. Just cuz the high current associated with low voltage headlights. whats the current your high beams pull? 40amps? 30 amps? reg bulbs prolly 10 - 15 amps. that's alot of current to be switching with a dinky toggle.

i finnaly decided im gonna run a wire from the batt. with a 5 amp fuse and put it on a toggle switch just not gonna bother with dash crap.

oh and how would one go about changing the Cig and Radio fuse from accesory to battery so that my deck saves its memory its getting really old having to redo all the settings everytime i start my truck
or since i dont have a clock could i just change my radio without the cig lighter to the radio fuse?

umm all decks have a batt connection and a acc connection if you have the batt hooked up it won't lose its memory, if you wire the acc to batt you'll just drain your batt. if you read my old post I told ya which wires are acc and batt behind the fuse block. they are already fused so it's perfect. Otherwise if you take a look at my thread on here you'll see another alternative to wiring (dragging the mains and hooking up another fuse block for future wiring needs.

Oh no, the blue lights are little 944 lamps inside the housing. They are not the actual headlights. The actual headlights are 6K HIDs from DDM tuning. I replaced the stock low beam headlights with the HIDs and ran all new wiring to them. They are fed from a fuse in a 6 blade accessory fuse blade holder. I tapped into the headlight switch to power them, so they turn on just like you would normally turn on the headlights. Didn't want to use the stock 20 year old wiring. On top of that, you can't just plug in a set of HIDs without doing some wiring as the ground and high beam wires are switched on the plug connector.

Look at my build thread for a complete installation. Would recommend upgrading to HIDs as they provide MUCH better lighting. Plus with everything it was about $100.00 and a weekend.

I'll definitely check it out, I'm looking forward to doing the hid conversion. nice install... a huge improvement over factory spec lights. How many amps are those two bulbs pulling just out of curiosity?
