I have been looking for a good, stealthy place to install a subwoofer in my '93 Coupe. Today, I glanced at my glove box and though, "Hmm... I never open it or put anything in it." So I just scoped out the size and dept and everything. It seems like I could easily install a single 8" subwoofer in there. Perhaps, I'd take out the actual glove box, install the subwoofer, then just reinstall the glove box cover. Wonder what kind of sound I would get? I'd imagine it would be decent, since its right there in the front. Anyone ever thought about doing this?

Defintely Not A good idea.

Do you relly want your dashboard to vibrate? Where are you going to put the amp for this? In the Seat? And a 8" Sub is more like mid bass instead of a real subwoofer.

Just have it mounted in the spare tire wheel well or somethign, or just get 2 12" kicker comp VRs in a sealed box, with a single terminal(subs are wired to same terminal, so you can bridge the amp) with a Kicker KX800 amp like me and just lay it in the trunk like me. And top it off with some infinity cappa series speakers.

I'm looking for a stealthy install. One that I can't see and doesn't take up space. Thought about putting a single sub in spare tire well, but doesn't look like a lot of space (maybe one 10").

Listen.... a glovebox is for a playstation! Then you can put a little plasma tv in your dash so you can play it while driving on the highway. :P j/k

Put your sub in the back.. you can make a small box for it to hide it away. Make a fibre glass or carbon fiber cage around it so it never gets touched and then it will be consealed. Good luck,

Bad, bad, bad, bad idea!! Even an 8" will rattle the dash so bad you will have PROBLEMS!! There are hundrens of small screws that will loosen over time, then your whole dash will bang and crash on every bump...have you driven a Ford lately.. the dash falls apart and makes all kinds of noise....Not fun! Also, the gauges are pretty sensitive, and I'm sure they will suffer over time. I just think it's going to cause some big problems. Most people put them in the back for a reason.... it's the best place for them.

Hey guys...I have a '95 240 with 6 speakers. 2 on A-pillars, 2 on doors, and 2 on rear deck. what are the sizes? Also, can you guys recommend any good speakers to replace the stock ones?

do you really want a vibrating dash not to mention midbass (not real ground moving bass) comin from the right of you. If you want a "stealthy" install remove the spare tire from the well. Put a sealed box w/ whatever you can fit back there. Cover the entire floor except the woofer itself w/ some matching carpet. mount the amp/s to where ever you want in the trunk, they wont take up much space.

JinNJuice i believe the 2 door and 2 rear deck are 6 1/2's. The 2 on the a pillar...are you talking about tweeters? Screw the 2 in the back. Your stage is up front, you drive a 240sx w/ tiny backseats. If your not nice enough to give your passengers a good backseat to ride in no need to be nice to them w/ good speakers. Upfront infinity/focal/mbquarts/alpine make good componet and coaxails.

Never used MTX speakers, but I highly recommend their amps. I do however don't recommend Alpine amps--with my experiences they fry to easily.

Think about it though if you put speakers in the trunk, you probably don't use the trunk for much of anything anyway. I've got 2 JL Audio 10s in a box in my trunk and still have enough room for my golf clubs---that's plenty of room left. And you will get a much better sound from the trunk.

Phoenix Gold Amps are dope... Infinity subs are decent and so are alpine subs.... I don't recommend Xplode subs although my friend does have one that work good in his sisters 240sx...

My choice has always been JL Audio subs and MTX Amps or US Amps. Head units I'm beginning to lean towards my Alpine 7897, because its friggin sweet.

Phoenix Gold Saphire 3.0's are the best amps I've ever owned. I had two, each bridged down to one line, pushing two JL 12" subs. Also had the door and rear deck speakers running off of a Coustic Power-Logik 4-way amp. All of it managed by a Phoenix Gold cross-over... Interior speakers were Boston Acoustic... That was in an Escort GT though... back then I could actually afford to maintain a system... not so well anymore :(

Alpine is the best bang for your buck. There is nothing better dollar for dollar. Zapco, blah blah blah might be better but not for $ per watt.

JL subs are awesome, but W7s are like 600 each.

Stealth Install, Install 2 bass drivers from alpine under your seat. THey vibrate the seat when the bass hits, don't know if they make it anymore but that should be stealtht enough.

jl subs are awesome...unfortunately the w7's are not. For that price i could get a couple of dd's and hit so much harder. The other Jls are sq subs and i wouldnt go with them for any kinda spl comp.

As far as amps go there is no better bang for your buck than the amps jbl is putting out now. i personally have a 1200.1 right now. Its the cheapest amps(sub) ive ever had and its also in the top 3 best amps ive ever had.

I still think the best idea for the original poster is a tire well install of a nice sub such as a type r, a shiva, jl, infinity or something like that. those are just cheap and good. For the front stage go with infinity plates or fashion a baffle for a pair of 6 1/2 infinitys, mbquarts, focals yatta yatta yatta

JL W7's are not for spl or really hard base, they are for SQ all the way. The 13" is $950-1000 most places. Sounds really really good even when it is cranked.

Anyway, I would just make yourself a couple boxes that use your empty space inside your rear fenders. I am in the process of building it this way. Each box will sit way in the corner and have a portion that sits in the fender. I have an S14 but it should still be similar in a 93 coupe.
