I just popped off my door panel to see why my speakers weren't working today. I found out that first off, the previous owner was running Rockford RPF-1404's, which are 4". And he put in a weakass fiberglass board to mount it on. I was pissed off that someone would take a 4x6" hole and want to make it SMALLER.

Anyways, I found the circuit board behind the speaker that I immediately took out, because it wasnt working anyways. All the wires coming from the little circuit board thing (the stock amp) were cut. And there were three wires coming through it, but it looked like they were coming from it.

I have searched on this subject and havent found any previous posts to answer my question.. So how do I take out that circuit board? I can't figure out how to get the damn connector unhooked because its screwed in, and I tried to get to it but I couldn't. I can try to get pictures up by tomorrow if it would help you understand what I'm talking about.

Wait, nevermind... I got it all out, and now I'm to the wires. It's on this step (not my car, just an example) http://240sx.cubicdesign.com/i...65250

All the wires are cut but a green one, a black one, and I believe a blue one. It's too dark to see it now. I want to know how I can take out the stock amp, and hook the speakers up to the HU directly.

So I take it that nobody's responding because there is no way to get rid of the stock amp completely. I have to bypass it?

I don't have any first hand experience with the Bose, beyond swapping one Bose HU for another Bose HU, but I'm willing to try and help.

Are you trying to replace the "entire" system? Or are you trying to replace the HU and use the existing speakers without the old amp (at the speaker)?

If the first, I think you just have alot of work/wiring to do. If the second, I'm not sure you can (or should). From what I've read, the existing speakers are probably 1.5 ohm or something in that neighborhood, and that will quickly burn most any amp. Unless you're using a High Current amp, which I would doubt if you're planning on using the existing speakers.

Hope that helps, if not let me know and I'll try again :D.

I have a 2 year old JVC 40x4 HU, and rockfords all around. My fronts weren't working so I took them out, and I'm not sure if I'm running off the HU or the stock amp.

But another q, would I be using the same circuit board plate if i were to build a 6.5" adapter?

My guess is if you can "identify" the speaker wires coming from the HU, you should be able by-pass the circuit board. If the circuit boards were wired into the set up before, they are probably now fried. They would have been expecting a low level signal and been getting a high level signal.

Might be worth looking into the adapter plates undergound is offering in another thread. Replacing the 4x6'x's with 6.5's would give you a much better sound.

Yeah, but a friend wants to build them with me. I would prefer to pay the $40 and have it done right, because my projects seem to be long trial-and-error ones...

So I can't just take out the circuit board and still use the wires?

And take a look at the two links in my previous posts, I took pictures, maybe it will help you.

If you can identify the "speaker" wires as they come through the molex connector, I don't see any reason why you couldn't dis-connect them from the circuit board and connect them directly to the speakers.

And I'm glad to hear someone's gonna make their own adapters. As glad as I am that underground is offering one, it's nice to see someone DIY it.

No, I decided not to build my own. I've had bad experiences with DIY projects. Call it luck...
