I have a 1993 S13 Coupe with a single 4X6 in the front. My passenger side just has a big hole in the door! lol Anyway, I got some 6.5 adapters and speakers. Now the hack before me had some kind of wood and a few sheet metal screws holding the one speaker in.

The are 4 holes for the adapter plate near the holes for the plastic trim clips. The garage I was working in was poorly lit so I could not tell if there were threads in these holes. If there are threads, what size bolt should I use? Do people just use the christmas tree plastic clips? Should I just use a larger self taping screw?

If my car was not so hacked, it would be easy to figure out.... I went to the junkyard to take a look, but there were just big holes in the door, like my passenger side!

Took a few times reading to see what you were trying to ask. Screws hold that plate in just like on the other side. It's a pretty common screw size so you can raid a junk yard for them. The adapters that you bought will fill that hole.
