Here's a good start - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/pathfinder/2001/

Hopefully a Pathy owner will pop in with more info.

I just had mine replaced last week, by the dealer. I'm glad I did. From everything I've read and heard, it's a pain in the ***. Unless you are patient and have good tools, you may want to let the pros do it.How many Kms (miles) is on your engine, by the way?

I did mine myself and I didn't think it was that bad. The only really annoying part was taking off the throttle body. But over all it wasn't the worst ones I've done.

How long should the stock plugs last? I've got about 72k miles on an 01 QX and wondering if I should look into changing them out.

Mine had 164K Kms on it. That's just over 100k miles. The old plugs still looked good. The truck was actually running fine before I changed them. I did it 'cause I thought it was time.

you have to remove the throttle body on the VQ to do the plugs? man i thought doing plugs on the VG was a pain--that's insane!

My 2002 had 92k miles on them. They still had 10 to 20k more life for sure. They were in great shape. It is not hard to change them. You do have to be organized, use anti seize and dielectic grease.NGK is the way to go.Carefully remove and replace, making sure to thread properly.Clean as you go.

The throttle body is not hard, and you pull a hose or two but no big, then some allen key bolts, and there are lots of little hoses and clips. I zip tied some of the hoses, wires out of the way gently.

You will want to replace the gasket on TB to intake manifold, or maybe rtv and the old one if you have to.

The bonus is you get a clean TB from both sides.Make sure coil pack sits down well on spark plug and don't overtighten the little 10mm bolt that holds it down.

If you have time and a few tools, you can do it yourself if you are just systematic and not foolish. It is not something that is as hard as it sounds. Also the longer you go, the harder it can become to remove old plugs. No special tool like the 3.3 and they are all about the same effort. But it is not a 1 hour job. More like 2 for the first time.

i just changed mine on my 01.it is not a real hard job.the throttle body has to be moved aside.other then that 3 brackets, all you nees is a 10 mm socket and your spark plug socket.
