My 2002 had 92k miles on them. They still had 10 to 20k more life for sure. They were in great shape. It is not hard to change them. You do have to be organized, use anti seize and dielectic grease.NGK is the way to go.Carefully remove and replace, making sure to thread properly.Clean as you go.
The throttle body is not hard, and you pull a hose or two but no big, then some allen key bolts, and there are lots of little hoses and clips. I zip tied some of the hoses, wires out of the way gently.
You will want to replace the gasket on TB to intake manifold, or maybe rtv and the old one if you have to.
The bonus is you get a clean TB from both sides.Make sure coil pack sits down well on spark plug and don't overtighten the little 10mm bolt that holds it down.
If you have time and a few tools, you can do it yourself if you are just systematic and not foolish. It is not something that is as hard as it sounds. Also the longer you go, the harder it can become to remove old plugs. No special tool like the 3.3 and they are all about the same effort. But it is not a 1 hour job. More like 2 for the first time.
