My #4 cyl went today. I checked all the usuals and found that the plug wasn't carrying on the spark to the cyl AT ALL. I pulled the plug out, it was no longer torqued in, kinda odd. I looked at the end and the electrode was bent TO the base. I don't know how this coulda happened other than something foreign IN the cylinder. So I replaced the plug; 11:30pm. Drove it for a few minutes,a nd it made a "whirrrrr" sound and went back to making #4 misfire like all hell. The second one has the same problem, the gap keeps getting shut, literally. I have NO CLUE. ANYONE?! I'm leaning towards carbon buildup, foreign object, or valve damage...but I dont think a bent valve would hit the plug itself or anything.

if your afraid somthing may be in the cylinger, crank it with the plug out for a second and it will hopefully be ejected.

I ran it with the plug out for a little while when I was trying to establish which cylinder wasn't affecting the crappy idle. Its working at the moment (thank God I bought a 2 pack) but I am really afraid to push the motor. Also, previously in the day I was accelerating at WOT and I missed a shift so the revs went pretty high and the car totally and completely shut off. Brakes were non funcional, gas pedal was locked. I could push the clutch, but not the shifter. I had to e-brake it to a side street. I was wondering if this was a built in Nissan thing to prevent any horrible problems...
