Where's the distributor cap for my J30? I can't seem to find it.

Direct ignition - it doesn't exist. Each plug has it's own coil pack and is supplied by low voltage. At least I think that's right...

Check out http://www.fuzzycats.com for more info on your J30, although I don't think there's anything about spark plugs there.

Are you looking for plug wires? There aren't any. I was asking myself the same thing when I opened the hood. Felt kinda stupid. I'm new to this as well, but you can find a wealth of knowledge here. Read up on some old threads and search for anything you can think of and you can probably find it.

Must be when you picked that Avatar - DOH!!! :D

It's nice to see some new J30 guys coming on board. I'd love to buy one some day... I've always thought the styling was some of the best out of Infiniti. I've tried to talk my girlfriend into buying a low mileage 1997, but she says "it looks like a bubble"

She has no taste, but I guess that can be a good thing sometimes too :D

Heath is right. Each plug has its own coil. No distributor cap.

Ok, so no distibutor cap, got it! So how the hell do you change the damm spark plugs! I felt like a fool asking the local grease monkey where there at.

They are changed like most other IC engines. If you don't have a service manual bible in your car, you can download an Acrobat formatted one at http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti/ and all TSB for a one day subscription.

You probably have some plastic covers, over your valve covers. The Q requires 8 to 12 hex head screws to be removed per valve cover, then you see a spagetti of wires, with quick-connects to the coil packs. You have to remove 2 screws per pack, and unplug the harness. Then the pack "lifts" out of the hole, and Voila! you can use a standard plug socket to remove the plug. Of course, after you blow the trash out with an air hose. Be sure to use anti-sieze compound on the new plug threads!

Wise Infiniti owners use only OEM NGK. Do a search on Bosch and you will discover why.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Or to be more direct - take them back! Get the NGK platinum that your car was designed to use...

Lots of emotion involved with Bosch. I had them in my Q, for about 60,000 miles. The car ran fine, until one disintegrated. They can not handle the lean fuel mixture, the electrodes burn up. Don't waste your time putting them in.

Check eBay, you can get the NGK's for about the same price, & no worrys.

Do a search for Bosch, you should find my thread, with pics, anda lot of technical info.
