im going to be installing my turbo very shortly and was wondering was gap the plugs should be. i want to run between 7-10 lbs on my t3/t4. i assume one stage colder aswell. can someone give me the part number for the plugs i need to get or tell me the proper gap?

i used to run NGK BKR7EIX. Those were two steps colder, maybe a BKR6EIX for your application. they are iridium plugs so they are pretty pricey but they dont fowl easy. I would recomment a .026-.028 gap. I would blow out spark at 12 psi with any higher gap.

^^^ Those are iridiums...I use standard copper BKR7E, and they do quite well at ~12psi, fo about ~6 months.

The iridiums will last MUCH longer...well worth the price IMO.

I use a .032" gap, stock S14 ignition, NGK wires.

just about what I'm running. on SOHC i'm running BKR6E's gapped at .38" stock S13 ignition w/ NGK wires as of right now. Then again I'm running 7.35# of boost and on a 8.6:1 compression motor... works well though. huge difference over the ZFR5E's the motor uses stock.

so then yall suggest the .032 or the .028? anyone really had a major difference in how the car ran at either one of these gaps? i personally run .032 but that was for 9 psi. at 12 psi should i be running a lower gap?

you'll be able to feel the motor bog out if the spark is getting blown out at higher boost levels. a better alternative to shortening the gap is upgrading the ignition

i have an msd blaster coil to install but u are right, an upgraded ignition would suit best. now where to mount that thing is the other question. so then is there an equation for gap to boost ratio?

I run .040-.044 gap on my plugs and I'm boosting 10-11 psi. I don't ever blow the spark out.

The formula for figuring how much gap according to psi of boost is as follows:

Set the gap around .040" and run the car. If it falls on it's nose up high, squeeze the gap to around .038". If it quits, then fine. If it still falls, try a little tighter. If you reach a gap of .030" on 12psi and it still falls out up high, sounds like weak ignition and time to find the real problem.

well im deffly geting only 1 stage colder for my setup. i might get iridiams after i experiment with the gaping. ill probably run .032 first with some cheapies and if im at a loss of power at least i wont be at a loss of money.
