i bought a non runnning 240 last week, and the previous owner did mention it needed some work to be done. so i only thought (check all functions and give it a tune up or whatever) so as i begin to work on it, i begin to see one ater another, after another. 1st the radiator which he did mention, then the battery was dead, then we check the spark plugs and wires, on cylinder 2 and 4 there were two different types of spark plugs, and on cylender 3 the damn rubber on the wires somehow gets stuck on the plugs so know we cannot change anything because one little problem. i have tried hooking the rubber with a little hook, (didnt work) and its missing two fenders. and the airfilter is detached from the ait tube/pipe thing. i clearly understand that i am not "Mr. Mechanic right here" but i am more than willing to get dirty with it in order to make something that i apreciate work.

I forgot to include: Model 1993 nissan s13Engine: KA24deMiles: 224,???stock to the bare bone

I'm not really sure the point of this post, other than describing your difficulties. Did you have an actual question?

if you would like me to convert it into a question...ok. with a car that has these troubles, would you or anyone continue fixing this car or would you just leave the project?

It seems to be several small problems that could be fixed w/ a little patience. A new set of spark plugs and plug wires will set you back about $40.00. If the rubber boot is stuck trim it off and change the plugs and wires. Be careful that you note the orientation of the wires on the distributor and to the plugs. Also the air filter and intake tube should reattach easily. The fenders are approx 40-50 $ each at a salvage yard.

Hope that helps - btw get at least a chiltons manual , preferably a nissan service manual.

Good luck

ha ha ha. you should check out craigslist more often. i sold my s13 fenders (both sides) for 10 bucks to get em out of my garage. Sold very quickly. It's an older car, problems are to be expected. Those plugs and wires should be dumped anyway. the intake piping you can always put back together anyway.

thanks for the heads up, (eventhough you already sold them) but what about the bearings on the fan. they are out. so my perspective is that i am going to have to remove the radiator either way, and then work on the fan. is that how i would do it? i mean, the main thing is to get it running. well thats what everyone wants but you get what i mean. well thanks, and i hope it does work out like i hope it will. once again thank you. and i hope to continue this topic till i get this thing runnin

the fan clutch, just drop it from the bottom of the fan shroud. that too is a cheap enough part if you look around.

I spoke to a mechanic last week and he said i would have to take of the valve gasket(I think thats what it is called) its the iron block thing that has all the things inside. its located at the top of the engine. well either way this is the question. I took off all 8 nuts from the damn thing, but it still doesnt want to come off. does anyone know it i am missing somthing else in order for me to take it out?
