I just purchased the car, came with an s13 redtop motor swap already. The car idles pretty randomly and seems to miss alot when getting on the gas. I pulled the spark pluge... ngk bcpr7es and when I googled it, it brings up volvo cars, so i'm guessing these are way wrong for this motor. Just want to see what spark plugs everybody is running and what part numbers they corrospond too.

Engine has 50k on it, full exhaust, dp, and intake. Just a side mount intercooler right now. hope that helps. Thanks.

The stock & FSM recommended plugs are NGK PFR6B-9

A godd set of plugs for the sr is ngk bkr7eix or iex but the iridium plugs its a little colder but i would rather foul them out then cause other problems i have them in my car and my car runs great. they are a little pricey but worth it ecspecially if your upgrading more than what you already have done to your car.

You can get Iridium in 6, 7, 8, or 9 heat ranges. Look at each heat range by boost. 10psi for 6, 15psi for 7, 20psi for 8, 25psi for 9. Alot of people are starting to foul out there Iridium 7 plugs with high boost. I just made the switch to 8's since i run 19-20psi majority of the time.

http://www.FRsport.com carries the correct plugs for our motors and they already gapped properly too.

I'll probably stick to heat range 6, since there's not that much done to the engine and I won't be boosting much over 10 psi for now. There's like 3 different types though, and I don't know that differences in them. The base stock ones are BKR6E, just regular old copper ones. Some recommend platinums, the stock part #PFR6B-9, and some recommend the iridiums BKR6EIX.

Whats the difference between platinums and iridiums? Just curious if there's any benefit. I know the stock coppers would have to be replaced more often though. And also, is the gap supposed to be .030" for the sr20det? Sorry for all the questions, it's just confusing.

The gap on the plugs should be .028 at least on the iridiums. as far as the plugs even tho you only run low to stock boost i would recomend that you stay with a 7 heat range i dont also dont no wat other ppl are sayin to run but as i have researched along the way the iridiums are a better plug from wat i have learned along the way of turbo cars is to not run platinum wether thats true im not sure. but i would not run them in any turbo car i own, but the difference between plugs is that platinum are supposed to last longer than standard and iridiums last even longer than platinums. but iridiums have better performance to them not sure how but do better metal quality in the iridium i guess. but even tho you run low boost i still recomend 7's i ran 7's for a little over a year on stock boost and it ran better than ever when i replaced them b/c i did turbo upgrade and other little things.

Copper has the best spark but doesnt last long.Platinum doesnt spark as good but lasts longer.Iridium sparks the best and lasts a long time.

You get what you pay for.
