Hmmm ... seems early to me, but I am not certain of this.

I just did my 60k mile work on my 2003 M45 and did not need to change the plugs - Dealer did not say anything either. I plan to do them at 90k ...

Wow, plugs at 90K? at 100K? What is the reasoning behind letting marketing control how you take care of your car??? Do you really think that a spark plug is very efficient at that mileage and time that they have been in the engine? They are so cheap and easy to replace(on V8 at least) that it should just be a regular maintenance item that you replace on consistant basis(I did mine at 40K and will again if I still have it at 80K)I say at very least do them by 60K.Cheers

Biggest concern at 100K interval is sparkplug galling.

I would read the FSM and buy a very good torque wrench, some high temperature anti-seize and the correct plug as specified by Infiniti and do it myself.

90-96 Q 4.5 V8 had a change interval of 60k at least for the first few changes [before ring wear]. At the miles exceeded say 180k plugs were usually done before 60k and a shorter interval was necessary say 50k or 45k depending on the look of the plugs.

4 years is long enough for any plug to stay in an aluminum head without galling.

speaking for the 03 04

60k is perfect. Anything less than 60k is a complete waste of time and $. ...and once you decide to change them stick with the oem NGK’s.

FSM says stock plugs are good for 105000. I think that sounds excessive, but I dont think 60k is cause for concern if its runs smooth. Id save the 100 bucks until 75k or so.

Stock plugs are NGK PLFR5A-11 # 6240

The best advise is take one out and look at it. If it looks like a clean burning machine and it acts like it FORGETABOUTIT

Hmmm ... the general consensus building here is that it seems like 60k is a good time to do the change.

I have to admit that having driven two Infiniti V-8 cars (two Q45's) past the 100k mile mark, I kinda feel that the cars were running just fine when I did change the plugs out on those cars. At around 100k or so.

Maybe my regular steady diet of BG-44k every oil chnge helps keep the engine, injectors and plugs clean? I dunno ... <shrug>

Auditech10 replaced mine yesterday at 62K. Glad I replaced them. Also did the BG44 treatment.

I'll let the tech boys tell you how it works. There are three cans (one goes in fuel tank) the other two are hooked to your engine like an IV in your arm. Takes about ten minutes. Cleans carb off valves.

In a nutshell, the engine is ran with pressurized high concentrate solution that eats away at carbon deposits and buildup and cleans gunk out of injectors, therefore bringing engine components to like new condition.Besides not having the "correct" release tool for the fuel line, the job was a breeze on your car Larry. Im glad you appreciate it and Im pretty sure your engine does as well! cheers

I watched Auditech10 do mine, the plugs you can do (being a pro he made it look easy) but the BG44 treatment only for pros.

Note: the BG44 is everything people said it is, great stuff, I really notice the difference in the car.

The gas additive part you can do yourself ... this one even I can do.

The other "hook to the engine" powered flush I have not done, so cannot comment on that.

BTW, I did discover one thing ... you have to have a long spout funnel (or a flexible tube funnel - I just saw this one recently!) to add stuff to the gas tank. No way to pour the can in otherwise! And, short or fat funnels do not work too well, since the upper lip/rim tends to still point "downwards" - things pour out rather than in!

I learned this the hard way.

1. Take the engine cover off2. Remove the 10mm bolt holding each of the ign coils(on the valve covers)3. Take the ign coil out and remove the spark plug with standard 5/8" socket. Make sure that the ign coils go back where they came from4. Installation is the reverse of above.

Cheers

I have never found the full kit anywhere except the dealerships or online. BUT to do it you need the entire BG kit to do this. It is basically two containers that get pressurized by shop air and have the hoses to go where needed. This kit is probably expensive and that is probably why you cannot really find the three-can kit.For what it is worth, I can have the cans shipped for $55.
