My spark plug wires in my 1992, 240 aren't seating properly and I just had the car tuned. I have to jam them back down after I drive for about 20 miles and I just had a tune up so I'm wondering if the new spark plugs were incorrectly installed.

Thanks, Omega

Sounds more like the plug wires are the ones causing the proble, not the plugs. Maybe the boost is too long and working it off? I've heard of that on lower quality/cheaper priced products, what kinda wires are they?

its the plugs. are they bosch? the wires dont hold on, and work their way out. NGK's always work perfect :)

Just put in some NGK Iridium plugs myself. Totally recommend them!

Bosch suck for the KA24DE anyway.....my mechanic told me anytime people put bosch on the KA-DE it always fries the plugs early/messes **** up.

I had bosch in my car for like 1K and they were worthless (former owner installed them) .

NGKs are awsome !

On a less expensive scale, since you just bought plugs; try some plug wire compounds. Just ask at the auto parts store..

Thanks for all the help but it turns out a gasket in the block was leaking oil into the cylilders, causing the plugs to rise. $150 later it seems to be fixed. Thanks again, O

In order to do it myself I would have had to buy all the necessary tools, plus the gasket and then hoped that with no experience whatsoever I would have done the job right.

Add to this the cost of my time, which given my inexperience probably wouldn't have been 15 minutes, and it was a nice date with an awkward kiss at the end and not "rape".

you dont own a 10mm wrench? thats the ONLY tool needed to change the gasket. at most it would take you an hour, even with no experience. im just saying, if i were you i would have asked around and done it myself, you could have saved a lot of money.

yes, I woulda done this job for alot less $ labor-wise... very simple.

only things to look out for is not to over-torque the bolts, have a clean mating surface between the valve cover & cyl head, tighten in a X-cross fashion, if u used some RTV on the ends of the gasket, let it set for about 30min to an hour before starting it up.
