So i am having a problem with my car not starting. My battery is fine, my starter is fine, and so is my fuel. But my car still wont start. I would like to give my spark plug wire a test and see if they are the ones giving me the problem. Also i am going to replaced my spark plugs since they are cheap.

Hope someone out there can help a brother out. Thanks

check your plugs, replace if necessary. get a spark plug tester, and test the wires individually. easy, and they cost about 2 bucks.

easiest and cheapest way to do it, is to grab the wire from the part that rest ontop of the valve cover. Get the tip of the wire close to the block, then have someone crank it and check for a spark. Or go to you local parts store and get a spark plug wire tester and test for spark that way.

replaced the spark plugs. and tryed turning on the ignition and the car still wont start. I checked the ignition wire and im only getting a little bit of spark coming out. It seems like i am not getting enough spark and thats why the car wont start. Could this be an ignition coil problem?

Its gotta be a spark problem and im not getting enough of it for the engine to start. What do you suggest i do?

Also when i took out the spark plugs it was flodded. So that means i have fuel going through right but not igniting?

if you have any spark, then the coil is good. is it cranking hard, or slow like the battery might be dead?? id try to pop start it if it is a 5 speed.

pop starting procedure: turn key to "on" position. depress clutch pedal and put car into gear (i have always used second). with clutch pedal still depressed, have someone, or a couple of people depending on grade of street, push car to gain a little speed. release clutch pedal and quickly push it back in. give it a little gas to get it to stay idling. take car out of gear and back into neutral. park car and leave it on while you enjoy a celebratory beer. that's how i roll anyways. hey while i'm at it, does this count as a write up and subsequently result in a custom title? anyone? j/k. but yeah, there it is.

I replaced my ignition coil and i seem to be getting a much better spark. But the car is still not turning on. Could it be my ignition wire?

Also my ignition coil was brownesh colour, does that mean anything? like its in bad shape? I have a good feeling its my ignition module thats giving me the problem, do you think that could be it?

Pop starting the car doesnt seem to help at all also.

Starter is fineBattery is fineTiming is fineFuel is fineSpark plugs fineIgnition wires fineIgnition coil fine

So far i have come to this. And the car still wont start.

What should i do?

did that with my friends jeep once. Let's just say it hurt.... alotit doesn't just jolt you.. I felt the electricity run up my left arm, across my shoulder blades, and down my right arm. Proceeded to watch it arc 2 inches from my right index finger into his hood. then my back felt like it was on fire, i was very surprised to say the least. But he had his car running better the next day once he had new wires and plugs.

you could always ohm check the plugwires with a dvom, i believe about 1,000 ohms per foot on a stock/oem wire. high performance wires will be less, like 100 ohms per foot for my msd super conductors.

if you wires are ok check to make sure the firing order is correct.

did you have the distributor out at all, timing could be off.

You could resistance test each wires or they could be grounding out before the plug. Take a spray bottle with water and lightly mist the wires being careful of the other electronics and watch to see if the spark is arcing between the wires or to ground.

Is it possible for the chain to do that? I mean i had the car running for about a week 1/2 and all of a sudden it would just jump a tooth over? and not start anymore?

But when the car died it didnt die just once.

I was able to start it up a couple times but it got worst and worst and now it wont even start.

Ok i went and checked my timing. Does this look okay to you?

by the way this wasnt at TDC. I opened the valve cover and this is where it was at.

sET to TDC and check your cams and everything else, then recheck your timing...I'm not sure what I'm looking at here, sorry....
