Does a spark plug wire laying directly on a hot surface such as the engine when it warms up create a higher resistance and possibly a weak spark in that wire. Just want to know somebody's opinion because my spark plug wires have laid loosely on top of my engine since the first time I ever touched them and everytime I have changed the spark plugs and I was just curious if anybody had something to add to this. I thought that heat and resistance were directly related and that spark plug wires are insulated for this very reason. Thanks.

Our wires have extremely high resistance anyway. It's by design. I doubt the resistance would be affected or have any effect. Having them touching the metal may have a tiny effect, but I don't really know for sure.

Well my car seems to be giving me better performance since I put them on the clips clear of the the engine surface. Call me stupid for believing this because I might be. I did recently change out my ignition switch but I don't think that has anything to do with the way it performs.
