I'm just writing down things I did that may have contributed to my idling problems.

I'm wondering if the spark plug wire order matters?

I currently have the wires hooked up as 1,3,4,2 counter clockwise starting from bottom right on the distributor cap.

The 1,3,4,2 wires are connected in order to the spark plug closest to the inside of the car to the outside/front of car.

Is that the correct order?

Thank you much.

match the wires to the cylinders to the markings on the distributor cap. yes the order matters.

If the car ran fine for 5-10 minutes as you stated in the other thread, I would guess your wire order is fine. You would have noticed right away if you were missing 2 or more cylinders!

Excellent. I just always get paranoid because I tend to forget order number when I take the wires out, I try to write it down, but usually pen and paper aren't around when working on my car.

Thanks.

In Addition regarding wire order:

Would it matter if the order was 1,3,4,2 or 1,2,3,4 as long as I have the corresponding wire to the right cylinder?

Thanks

I followed the instructions in the $110 Nissan book and they were wrong, the engine ran like crap (like not at all) and the exhaust stunk , everything else checked out so I compared the book to the Haynes manual and it was different!

I redid the wires and she fired right up!
