Just bought a new set of wires, and they won't fit inside the cap!The boots are too long and i can't get the dist. cap to fit back on.the coil plug also won't stay on, like the boot is too short, or small in diameter.i've got an inch long tear in one of my old cables, so i'd really like to find a good set and soon.

did i totally miss something, or should i try to get my hands on a specific set?

Did you get the right set? There are different distributors available, hitachi and mitsubishi made distributors. Find out which one you have and check the parts that you got to make sure that you didn't get the wrong parts.

well, not sure what the cap manufacturer is, i mean, the plugs fit just fine on the distributor, but the lid that covers that and the wires is stock as far as i know, still says nissan on it.

the boots on the end of the wires run too long before the 90 degree turn, and there's not enough space to seal that lid on the cap tightly.and the wire that runs to the coil, i guess the boot is too small, because it won't fit very tightly on the coil tower (wants to push back off)

i'm just going to take them back tomorrow, and see if the nissan dealership has any that work.

The cover for the distributor or the distributor cap? The cap is the black plastic thing with the metal contacts for the wires. The covering for the distributor may not fit if you're using after market ignition wires, I had this happen with my old aurora ignition wires. Don't worry about the black rubber thing that wraps around the distributor cap and the ignition wires too much, make it fit the best you can.

The ignition coil wire, you may have to push down on harder to get it to get a good seal on it.

the cover for the dist. cap will not fit over the new wires, and the coil, man i pushed on that thing as hard as i could and still couldn't get it to fit on there firmly.
