Thought I'd pass on a couple tricks I picked up doing plugs and cam covers. There are 1"x1" metal plates attached to the plug coils. If you take those off first, then the coils pull straight out easily. When you replace the coils, a little squirt of silicon spray lets them slide back on easily. As a bonus, if you attach two of those metal plates at the front and rear of the cam cover without the coils, they can be used as handles to lower the cover into place on the heads. This is especially important on the early Q, as the gooey RTV is yearning to smear all over the cams and not stay on the covers like it should.

Thats a nice trick about putting the valve covers on too... I made a note to that!

There are a total of 6 Phillips screws per coil-2 hold the coil to the cam cover, 2 hold the plate to the cam cover and 2 hold the coil to the plate. When you remove the coils, you take out the 4 that are to the cam cover and that leaves the 2 holding the plate to the coil. If you want to separate them, you just remove those screws and reattach the plate to the cam cover by itself.
