A more recent project...

After hearing about a friends' coil pack going out on his M3, and realizing that I had ~61k on my plugs, I found a new project. This was done in April 2011 on a 94 Q45 having 226k miles.

All but one of the plugs/cylinders looked good as far as I could tell, but if you guys see otherwise, let me know. #1 appeared to have just a small amount of oil on the threads and maybe the cylinder. I recall seeing a post from Brian saying that if there is oil here, it may be too late. The oil here would be caused by the valve cover gasket, correct, or would it be rings....or am I way off? I sprayed some deep creep in all of the cylinders before replacing the plugs....which, along with a can of throttle body cleaner in the TB, made for quite the smokeout when I fired her back up.

Ahhhh....next will be the dreaded 'under plenum' work. I have the CONSULT throwing a KS code and I am not getting an ohm reading at all on one. The fuel injectors are reading about 20-25 ohms, which doesn't appear to be correct (have read they should be 10-14), but I'm not great at electrical, I'll admit it. I'll save these questions for another post. I've been researching what all I need for the under plenum job and want to ask in one shot so I take care of everything (V/C job, fuel rail/injector cleaning, etc.). I did find a post yesterday referencing the 'ultimate engine hose kit' at IOS that includes many of the goodies I'll need for this! :)

Back to the topic at hand. I'd be interested to see feedback on the condition of the plugs/cylinder.

Thanks!

Nice pics! It reminds me of mine when I opened it up in June of last year.

Where are you located in TX?

Not too bad, but definitely the VC job. Best if you can combine with underplenum and get it over with.
