Anyone know the differences between the spark plugs in the KA24E versus the KA24DE?

I was changing mine out, and I noticed that the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to put KA24E plugs (NGK ZFR5E-11) into the KA24DE engine (uses plugs NGK BKR5E-11).

Are the KA24E plugs colder? I noticed a bit of carbon build-up. Any other potential issues that using the incorrect plug may have caused?

Thanks!

I use NGK V power gapped at .39

I believe one is the V power and the other is regular NGK.

Thanks, but they're both v-power. Though the older one's v is almost completely eroded away.

gap increases as the plug gets older.

I believe that one of the differences is how far the plug sticks into the cylinder.. That could have been catastrophic man. Maybe the other way around could have been bad. I'm not sure. I'm gonna dig around the net, and see for sure what the difference is because I'm curious now..

Inquired about this directly from NGK. They seem to have good cust. service. Here's the response:

The ZFR5E-11 has more projection into the combustion chamber (longer)which could potentially overheat the ground electrode though I doubt itdid any damage (the difference is very minimal @ 1.5mm)) unless the carhas been used for racing. I would just replace with the correct BKR5E-11and you should be good to go. Thank you.
