My '01 Max is going to go for a service call soon. Curious about plug replacement. At 100K mi., these plugs are still performing adequately. Has anyone replaced stock plugs with alternative brands or designs? I've been considering Bosch Platinum plugs, which come in several flavors and are aggresively marketed as a good option? Opinions, please.

Thanks, KnowMan (in MA)

Negative. Only use NGK plugs, other tend to lead to problems with a rough idle.

I have to agree with Scott. I bought some Bosch platinum 4's. Worked great for a while. Replaced them with some NGK's and it was a night and day difference. The Bosch was great, since the OEM were dying. But after 15k miles, the new set of NGK's were a much better product for our car. Idle was smoother, and car was more powerful.

Well, thanks to you and BeanCooker for the info. I'll take the NGK's when I do the change. You two probably saved me some trouble down the road. As a new guy to this forum, I appreciate the quick response. Best. -- James
