ok the car is running like crap now. I regapped my plugs yesterday and the car seems to be worst. what gap is everyone running? my buddy with a 300z told me to gap them to .035 standard but I want to know what works for everyone here? at first i had them to 1 metric and i know that 1.1 is in the stats but i wasn't sure if making the gap smaller would run them better. let me know something if i dont hear anything then i am going to regap them to 1.1 and be done with it

Im using NGK BCPR6ES-11 and the car runs awsome. I left it at the gap they came with, which is the same 1.1

Yup... same here. BCPR6ES-11 @ 1mm gap. Run's pretty good for me.

Did you check out your o2 sensor and my whole post on ignition timing?

Define "running like crap", might be a bit more help to ya if I knew what was going on. These motors are quirky.

LOL @ Trigger. I love electrical problems, don't you? I'm putting my new plugs in tommorrow night and recheck timing off of the #1 plug instead of the loop. My car seems to run well, but I thought I'd check to see if there is any differrence. I am getting real crappy gas mileage, but the power seems alright?

whoa, float, thats me exactly!! power seems alright but i have spent $40 on gas in the last 8 days!! its really cutting into my bank account. my alternator is fine as i just got it rebuilt and the safc says im getting 14.4v. maybe my car just hates me, in which case im fine with it because at least there isnt a physical problem.

We'll see, but I think I'm going to be getting about 20m/g but I haven't been real easy on it either. Plus the first 20-30 miles were with the old O2 sensor (which, btw, helped my irratic idle, but it's still a cold blooded biatch) I'll prob do that stuff tonight and I'll let you know if my timing was off or not. Then either Joe can verbally abuse me, or I can verbally abuse him. The suspence is killing me! LOL.

well, im looking at about 6-8mpg currently. lemme know if you find out whats up. i used about 28 gallons of gas in a week and went less than 120 miles. no leaks in the fuel system or anything. its a pain on my bank account. it cost me more in gas to drive to work last week than i made after taxes. (only work four an hour or two after school).

oh, and i know its capable of good gas mileage because it used to get about 35mpg. id have to fill up once every 2 or 3 weeks. course this was probably largely in part becuase i was shifting at 2k rpm and driving like a little girl. but i only shift at 3..would habitually engine braking do ****e for my gas mileage?

I've always done it. I even brake from high-up in the rpm or in the high mph areas; it doesn't matter. I hear myths that it's unhealthy for the timing belt, but I always say "maybe for your timing belt".;)

Downshifting so slow the CAR down (speeds up the engine)
