okokok so yesterday i ordered replacement plugs for my sr, ngk bkr6e, since those were the ones put in the car during the motor swap. i talked to a couple people and came to the conclusion that copper doesn't do any less of a job than iridium plugs. however at work today, two of my pals said that they do, and they both noticed improvements in their vehicles (one had them in an eclipse that he turboed and the other drives a mk3 supra turbo, which are obviously not 240s)

so my question: do they make (being the iridium plugs) a difference/do a better job in CERTAIN cars, or are they really just an overpriced gimmick?

i could see them lasting longer than copper, though

edit: and i've never had any problems out of the ngk's i currently use, i'm only swapping them because i had a coil pack go out so i figured i'd just swap all the plugs too. and do an oil change... because i can

I noticed a little better response, it could have been because I had old plugs and/or the other ones were better. I'm currently running Bosch Platinum 2's

of course you're gonna notice it goin from old plugs to anything new, that's not really a fair comparison, lol.

I've always ran coppers in all my ka's and between the two rb's I've had the rb20 actually ran better with new coppers compared to new iridium's, with the rb25 I noticed no difference between new coppers and new iridiums, just go with the coppers

Isn't Iridium supposed to be a better conductor of electricity or something. Thats about all I could think of.

I actually purchased a set of those Bosch 2 plugs for my car when it had the KA and it began shaking like a b***h. Had to go back to NGK's and will never get anything else.

Iridium is many times harder than platinum and can last for long durations hence 100,000 mile plug. The iridium plug requires less voltage to ignite therfore putting less strain on the ignition system.Thats what the ngk book says. Also the 4 or 6mm tip has a more consistant spark.I wouldn't run them all the way to 100,000 but they will last much longer.
