can you guys help me out with my KA-T. heres what happened i replaced the brk6e gapped at .035 with new plugs in yesterday brk7e stock gap which is .040 and i drove it around block with a little boost to make sure it was fine and it was then parked it. when i tried to drive it 20 mins later it kept stalling and wouldn't hold idle so i took out the plugs and it had a black tint so it was running rich. I put the brk6e back thinking it would work like normal again but it wouldn't hold idle and when i come to a stop the car wants to stall and i have to give it constant gas to keep it running. i'm thinking i fouled the plugs and let the gas dry up overnight. hopefully new plugs today will make it work. What gap do you guys recommend for t25 setup for a ka24de? any ideas or opinions are welcome!

Boost leak?

Address the rich-running issue first, or you're gonna be fouling plugs left and right.

Clean up the old ones and reinstall, get a wideband O2 sensor on that thnig to monitor your AFR's.

alright i bought knew plugs bkr6e gapped at .035 and i still have to press the gas a bit to start the car. after it starts after being left over night it idles around 900 rpms. then starts to stall after driving and won't hold idle.

Could it be o2 sensor or maf?

btw i'm blow thru setupModified by beatd at 7:38 PM 9/2/2008

I would run .03" or even slightly lower (if you're boosting more) on a KAT.

NGK BKR7EIX plugs are already pre-gapped to 0.03".

I always try to buy pre-gapped plugs because gapping plugs causes the tips of the plugs to be non-parallel and flush with each other.

i just ran into more problems yesterday when troubleshooting my problem. now my o2 sensor bung is all jacked up. when i took the o2 sensor out the threads came with it. can i jb weld it a sensor on there and drive it to a shop to weld a bung?

plus the car just doesn't sound right anymore. it doesn't have a deep tone to the motor and exhaust anymore, and sounds like NA. i just want to blow up my car or store it for winter and start again next spring

I see your from NJ...if you're sick of wrenching on your car, we do good work at good prices at Raymond Motorworks.

It sounds like stuff you could do, but if you interested in a shop taking over, drop me a line either at [email protected] or RMW direct at [email protected]

you shouldnt jb weld it, cant you just take out your elbow and take it to shop to weld. jb weld can only handle up to around 500 degrees and depending how far you have to drive it can get really hot and crack.

Do you even have a wideband to monitor afr? what are you using to tune your car? if you car is too rich it will make the car drive like SHIIt. also bad injectors and fpr(stock isnt good) will cause the car to run rich and feel like boost leak depending how bad the fpr is. But check how rich you are running first.

yea i'm going to take out the elbow and replace all the gaskets with metal ones and i have emance tune ecu. but could a low spark cause my car to sound like its half dead? i mean its not as loud as it was before.

also when i ran the new plugs for 10 mins at idle and drove for half a block the plugs still looked new. there was a tiny hint of brown but thats it. shouldn't it be like brownish tanish by 10 mins and driving?

You should check your ecu, since it's from emance i heard it gets loose something and can pop out of place. open up the ecu to make sure that it is in place. i think thats the problem since all of a sudden it just acted different.

if not then make sure all injectors are connected and you have good spark wires or dizzy.

i will do that and i suspect that its the stock coil needing to be replaced but i'm going to take my time this time around now that school started again (IT school son). I'm also going to try going suck through again instead of blow through and see how it works. Most likely the car won't be on the road until spring. I'll started a build thread when i have everything running perfect. thanks for all of your replies!
