I was just wondering how many of you keep your spare tire and jack in the car?

Clearly a spare would be good to have for a long trip, but what about the daily grind? What about you guys that only run your car on the weekend?Do you keep your Spare & Jack in the car?

Just the tire no rim(sometime) and a jack. I have all the tools to keep it on the road in the trunk.

when you fill up at the gas station, dont you add at least the equivalent to that amount of weight anyways??? near empty vs. full tank?? do you really wanna be stranded, have to call a buddy and have him pick you up, drive you to your house, dig through the garage, find a flat spare, go air up your tire, go back to your car, change tires(at God knows what time of day or night, in God knows what weather), and then drive to the local tire shop to get tire fixed??????

how about this: go on a diet and lose 20 lbs, and that way you can stop imagining that your car is faster and handles better without a much needed but often neglected spare tire.

why not drain a quart or two from the engine while you're at it? or maybe remove that pesky interior? i hear that's still cool to do....PS: if you really wanna save weight, why not start pulling some body panels??

amen to that. I hear about people stripping the innards of thier cars all the time , and then i see a picture of the guy and he is 280lbs. I mean it is probably easier to run a little everyday and have you lose the weight then spend a couple days ripping stuff out of your car .

I always have a spare tire and right now i have the factory jack and a hydrolic(sp?) jack. I've had enough flat tires to know better.

Yeah I have my spare, but my car doesn't have a jack. I need to get one though :(

A friend of mine is in the habit of taking out his spare and jack. He got a flat and called one of his roommates instead of AAA. Long story short, his roommate had to make up 3 hours of work on a weekend because this moron took out the spare and chose not to call AAA.

don't be blowing down barns as you drive by man!:D

i keep my spare. because, if i didn't i would'nt have one when i got a flat tire... now would i? heehee.i don't even take it out for the autocross, although i should... because the factory jack/tools/etc makes racket sometimes. but hey! i could get a flat in the middle of the course, so it will save me time from running back to the 'pits' and getting my stuff. :icesangel

I hate the trunk in the hatch of the 240. I could never get that damn cardboard thingy to sit even and everything would rattle around. Therefore, everything is out besides the wrench to take the lugs off. I guess I am screwed once I get a flat, but that is why I have a cell phone and AAA. LOL

I've got Verizon and USAA as my flat tire service JIC I ever decide to take out my spare. But as of now I have the original dinky spare and jack in my car. What gets me is that the previous owners of my car lost the key to the jack...so now I have to use a screwdriver to twist the damn thing.

Zero - Dont feel bad, my tire didnt use-to slide around and make a ton of noise, so i drilled a hole in a paint-stir-stick and put that on the hold down screw. Ghetto, but works.
